Hørsholm
Hørsholm () is an urban area on the Øresund coast approximately north of Copenhagen, Denmark. It covers most of Hørsholm Municipality and straddles the borders neighbouring Fredensborg Municipality and Rudersdal Municipality. Hørsholm proper is developed around Hirschholm Palace, which was constructed in the 1730s, but the town has later absorbed several of the nearby communities that are of much older origins. History Palace and market town Hørsholm was founded in connection with the construction of Hirschholm Palace. Niels Eigtved created a plan for a residence town in 1737 and to stimulate its growth, it was given status as market town in 1739. However, it never came to serve as a market town and was still only a small settlement when the palace was demolished between 1810 and 1816. Hørsholm Municipality
Hørsholm Municipality () is a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in the Capital Region in the northern part of the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 31 km2, and has a total population of 25,168 (1. January 2025). Its mayor as of 2010 is Morten Slotved, a member of the Conservative People's Party (''Det Konservative Folkeparti''). The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Hørsholm. Hirschholm Palace
Hirschholm Palace, also known as Hørsholm Palace, was a royal palace located in present-day Hørsholm, Hørsholm municipality just north of Copenhagen, Denmark. It was rebuilt in the Baroque architecture, Baroque style in the 1740s and, one of the finest buildings of its time, it became known as the "Palace of Versailles, Versailles of the North". It developed a notorious reputation in connection with its role in the affair between Johann Friedrich Struensee and Queen Caroline Matilda of Great Britain, Caroline Mathilda in the 1770s. After that it fell into disrepair and was demolished in 1809–1813. Hørsholm Textile Factory ( Danish: Hørsholm Klædefabrik) was a textile mill in Hørsholm, Denmark. The oldest part of the buildings can still be seen at Hovedgaden 51 and have now been converted into office space. History Hørsholm Klædefabrik was founded by Jørgen Heinrich Lindloff on 23 July 1842 and was then operated by horse power. It was expanded in connection with the introduction of steam engines in 1874. The Capital Region of Denmark (, ) is the easternmost administrative region of Denmark, and contains Copenhagen, the national capital. The Capital Region has 29 municipalities and a regional council consisting of 41 elected members. As of 1 August 2021, the chairperson is Lars Gaardhøj, who is a member of the Social Democrats party of Denmark. Rungsted
Rungsted, also known as ''Rungsted Kyst'', is an affluent suburban neighborhood in Hørsholm Municipality on the Øresund coast north of Copenhagen, Denmark. The center of Hørsholm is located two kilometers west of Rungsted. At the Øresund coast is Rungsted Harbour, a marina. History The name Rungsted is first recorded in 1346 in the form ''Runæstigh''. The name may be derived from Old Danish ''runi'' meaning and ''sti 'svinesti', later changed to ''sted''. Alternatively the first part of the name may refer to the small waves that are characteristic of the Øresund. Rudersdal Municipality
Rudersdal Municipality () is a part suburban, part rural municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') located on the northern outskirts of Copenhagen, Denmark. It covers an area of 73 km² and has a population of 57,342 (1. January 2025). The distance from Copenhagen City Hall Square is approximately 20 km. The western part of the municipality is served by the Hillerød radial of the S-train network while the eastern part is served by the Coast Line. Administratively Rudersdal Municipality belongs to Region Hovedstaden. Denmark is divided into five regions of Denmark, regions, which contain 98 municipalities (, ; , ). Fredensborg Municipality
Fredensborg Municipality () is a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Hovedstaden (Capital Region). The municipality covers an area of 112.13 km2 and has a total population of 42,186 (as of 1. January 2025). Its mayor, since 2010, is Thomas Lykke Pedersen, a member of the Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party.
