Green Party Of Ireland
The Green Party ( ga, Comhaontas Glas, , Green Alliance) is a green political party that operates in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. As other like-minded Green parties, it has eco-socialist/green left and more moderate factions. It holds a pro-European stance. It was founded as the Ecology Party of Ireland in 1981 by Dublin teacher Christopher Fettes. The party became the Green Alliance in 1983 and adopted its current English language name in 1987 while the Irish name was kept unchanged. The party leader is Eamon Ryan, and the deputy leader is Catherine Martin and the Cathoirleach (chairperson) is Pauline O'Reilly. Christopher Fettes
Christopher Fettes (born 1937) is an English people, English former teacher, farmer and founder of the Green Party (Ireland), Irish Green Party. He is an honorary member of the International Vegetarian Union and of the World Esperanto Association. Life Christopher Fettes was born in Bromley, Kent, England and educated at Clayesmore School, Dorset, and in English (language), English and French (language), French at the University of Dublin. He taught for a year in France and then for 37 years at Saint Columba's College, Dublin, for most of that time as a housemaster. The European Parliament (EP) is one of the legislative bodies of the European Union and one of its seven institutions. 2019 European Parliament Election In Ireland
The 2019 European Parliament election in Ireland is the Irish component of the 2019 European Parliament election and was held on Friday, 24 May 2019, on the same day as the 2019 local elections and a referendum easing restrictions on divorce. The election was conducted in three constituencies under the single transferable vote (STV). Thirteen MEPs were elected, but the last candidate elected in both Dublin and South did not take their seats until after Brexit on 31 January 2020.
