Goldschmidt Family
The Goldschmidt family is a family of German Jewish descent, originally from Frankfurt am Main, known for their success in banking. With origins tracing back to the 15th century, most members were forced to leave Frankfurt after the 1614 Fettmilch uprising, and did not return until the 18th century. The family was interwoven particularly with the Rothschild family, the Bischoffsheim family of Mainz, and with the Bartolome Family, one of the richest families of Monaco. The Bischoffsheim and Goldschmidt families conjointly managed the Bischoffsheim, Goldschmidt & Cie bank, which was eventually merged into Banque de Crédit et de Dépôt des Pays-Bas in 1863, the forerunner to BNP Paribas. The English branch of the family Anglicised their name to Goldsmith, starting with Frank Goldsmith (1878–1967). Its most famous 20th century member was the billionaire James Goldsmith. Philipp Schey Freiherr von Koromla ( hu, koromlai Schey Fülöp; 23 June 1881 – 27 June 1957), known as Pips Schey, was an Austro-Hungarian baron. He was the son of Paul Gustav Schey von Koromla (1855–1922), and the grandson of Friedrich Schey von Koromla (1815–1881). Schey is described in detail in Patrick Leigh Fermor's 1977 memoir, ''A Time of Gifts''. Wilhelm Carl Von Rothschild
Baron Wilhelm Carl von Rothschild (Hebrew: שמעון וואלף רוטשילט; May 16, 1828 – 25 January 1901) was a banker and financier of the Frankfurt House of Rothschild. Life and career Wilhelm Carl von Rothschild was the son of Baron Carl Mayer von Rothschild of Naples and Adelheid Hertz. He was known by some as "The Tzadik of the Rothschild House." Maximilian Von Goldschmidt-Rothschild
Maximilian von Goldschmidt-Rothschild (20 June 1843 – 18 February 1940) was a German banker and art collector. The son of Benedict Hayum Salomon Goldschmidt, he was the co-inheritor of the Goldschmidt family bank along with his brother Adolphe Goldschmidt. He married Minna Karoline Freiin von Rothschild, the daughter of Wilhelm Carl von Rothschild. At one point, he was considered the richest person in the German Empire. After the death of his father-in-law, the last male of the Frankfurt Rothschilds, Maximilian Goldschmidt and his wife adopted Rothschild's name. Emperor William I gave him the title of Baron de Goldschmidt-Rothschild. Mark Roland Shand (28 June 1951 – 23 April 2014) was a British travel writer and conservationist and the brother of Queen Camilla.
