Girl Guides Association Of Brunei Darussalam
The Girl Guides Association of Brunei Darussalam or Persatuan Pandu Puteri Brunei Darussalam is a Guiding organisation in Brunei. Like all Scouting and Guiding organisations, it aims to develop character in children and young people by following Scouting principles. The Girl Guides Association of Brunei Darussalam is a girls and women only organisation. Founded in 1951, it became a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) in 1996. Girls are organised in groups by age. These include Brownie groups and Girl Guide groups. For the International Day of Peace in 2006, the PPP held a fundraising ''Walk for Peace'', raising money for the Yogjakarta earthquake appeal, as well as ''Sharing for Peace'' a solidarity camp together with Girl Guides from Singapore who visited Brunei Darussalam for six days in September 2006. Princess Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah
Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah (; born 26 July 1969) is the eldest daughter of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Queen Saleha. Education and early life Princess Rashidah attended Puteri-Putera School, Jerudong International School and graduated Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) with a Master's degree in Public Policy and Administration. Pengiran Anak Saleha
Saleha binti Mohamed Alam (born 7 October 1946) is the Queen of Brunei as the wife of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, the current Sultan of Brunei. She is the daughter of Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohammad Alam and Pengiran Anak Hajah Besar. After her husband was crowned as the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei, she succeeded her mother-in-law, Pengiran Anak Damit, as Raja Isteri ( Queen consort). She is the mother of Crown Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah. The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS ) is a global association supporting the female-oriented and female-only Guiding and Scouting organizations in 152 countries. It was established in 1928 in Parád, Hungary, and has its headquarters in London, United Kingdom. It is the counterpart of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). WAGGGS is organized into five regions and operates five international Guiding centers. It holds full member status in the European Youth Forum (YFJ), which operates within the Council of Europe and European Union areas and works closely with these bodies. Brownies (Girl Guides)
Brownies are the section in the Girl Guides (or in the United States, Girl Scouts) organization for girls aged seven years old to ten years old. Exact age limits are slightly different in each organization. History Brownies, originally called Rosebuds, were first organized by Lord Baden-Powell in 1914, to complete the range of age groups for girls in Scouting. They were first run as the youngest group in the Guide Association by Agnes Baden-Powell, Lord Baden-Powell's younger sister. In 1918 his wife, Lady Olave Baden-Powell, took over the responsibility for the Girl Guides and thus for Brownies. A Girl Guide or Girl Scout is a member of a section of some Guiding organisations who is between the ages of 10 and 14. Age limits are different in each organisation. The term Girl Scout is used in the United States and several East Asian countries. The two terms are used synonymously within this article. Girl Guides are organised into units/troops averaging 15–30 girls under guidance of a team of leaders. Units subdivide into patrols of about six Guides and engage in outdoor and special interest activities. Units may affiliate with national and international organisations. The 2006 Yogyakarta earthquake (also known as the Bantul earthquake) occurred at with a moment magnitude of 6.4 and a maximum MSK intensity of VIII (''Damaging''). Several factors led to a disproportionate amount of damage and number of casualties for the size of the shock, with more than 5,700 dead, tens of thousands injured, and financial losses of Rp 29.1 trillion ( $3.1 billion). It was first established in 1917 as The Singapore Girl Guides Association, before being renamed to its current iteration on 24 July 2004.
