Ghulam Faruque Khan
Ghulam Faruque Khan Khattak Hilal-i-Pakistan, HPk, Order of the Indian Empire, CIE, Order of the British Empire, OBE (7 October 1899 – 29 April 1992) was a Pakistani politician and businessman who was the founder of Ghulam Faruque Group. As a politician, he became Governor of East Pakistan and Federal Minister for Commerce, Science and Technology where he served from 1964 to 1967. He was also member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from 1973 to 1977 and member of the Senate of Pakistan from 1985 to 1991 and again from 1991 until his death. Ghulam Faruq Yaqubi (1938 – 16 April 1992) was an Afghan politician and Army General. He was a significant figure In the Afghan Security Service, KHAD, from 1980 to 1985. Early life and education Born in Kabul, son of Khan Muhammad, and educated at the Najat School, Kabul police academy and in West Germany. Career He began his career as a lecturer at the Kabul police academy in 1966. Subsequently, he served as the director of operations and general director of the criminal department in Ministry of Interior Affairs. Yakubi was promoted both to Politburo status and the rank of Colonel General, the highest rank held by the regime's military. In 1986 the KHAD became a separate ministry under the name Ministry of State Security (WAD). Ghulam Farooq Wardak (born 1959) is a politician in Afghanistan, formerly serving as the Minister of Education. He was appointed to that position by Afghan President Hamid Karzai on October 11, 2008. Early life Farooq Wardak was born in the Saydabad Wardak District, in the Wardak Province of Afghanistan. He is an ethnic Pashtun from the Wardak tribe, who is fluent in Pashto, Persian, English and Urdu. His primary education was from a government elementary school in Wardak Province. He completed his high school in Kabul City. With the collapse of President Daud Khan's regime, Wardak joined the jihad against the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan with Hezb-e Islami of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar. Golam Faruq is a former Bangladeshi cricketer who played in five One Day Internationals from 1986 to 1990. A right arm medium pacer and more than a useful lower-order batsman, Faruq (commonly known as Suru) was a regular with the national side throughout the 1980s. In ODIs He was one of the players who played in Bangladesh's first ever ODI against Pakistan. He didn't get much success with the ball at the highest level. But, as a batsman his 23* helped Bangladesh reach 3 figures against Sri Lanka in 88. In ICC Trophy He played in only four ICC Trophy matches, despite being part of three ICC Trophy teams. On January 15, 2010, the Department of Defense complied with a court order and published a list of Captives held in the Bagram Theater Internment Facility that included the name Haji Ghulam Farooq. There were 645 names on the list, which was dated September 22, 2009, and was heavily redacted. According to historian Andy Worthington, author of ''The Guantanamo Files'', Ghulam Farooq was released on May 15, 2010. Worthington reported that Ghulam was one of the first captives to be released following the newly instituted Detainee Review Board. He was released with nine other men.
