Geography Of Primorsky Krai
Primorsky Krai is located in the Far East, southern far east, in the south-eastern part of Russia. In the north it borders with Khabarovsk Krai, in the west with the Provinces of China, Chinese Provinces of Jilin and Heilongjiang, in the south-west with North Korea (Rason, Special City of Rason) and at the south-east with the Sea of Japan. The total length of the borders is 3,000 km (1,864 miles) and the coastline is 1,500 km (932 miles). The total area is 165,900 km2 (64,100 sq miles) which is 0.97% of the total area of Russia, which makes it Russian federal subject, 23rd largest federal subject of Russia. The total length of the krai is 900 km and the width is 280 km. Primorsky Krai has been federal subject of the Russian SFSR and then of Russian Federation since 1991. Primorsky Krai
Primorsky Krai (russian: Приморский край, r=Primorsky kray, p=prʲɪˈmorskʲɪj kraj), informally known as Primorye (, ), is a federal subject (a krai) of Russia, located in the Far East region of the country and is a part of the Far Eastern Federal District. The city of Vladivostok is the administrative center of the krai, and the second largest city in the Russian Far East, after Khabarovsk. The krai has the largest economy among the federal subjects in the Russian Far East, and a population of 1,956,497 as of the 2010 Census. The krai shares Russia's only border with North Korea, along the Tumen River in Khasansky District in the southwestern corner of the krai. Putyatin Island
Putyatin Island (Russian: ''Остров Путятина'') is an island in (east part of Peter the Great Gulf), near 50 km east of Vladivostok and 35 km west of Nakhodka. It named after Admiral Yevfimy Putyatin. The island is under Fokino city administration. Area is 27.9 km2; the highest point is Startsev Mount (353 m over a sea). Population is 994 (2010). There is only one settlement on the island. Putyatin Island is one of four inhabited islands of Primorsky Krai (the other three are Russky, Popov and Reyneke). The main branches of economy of island are fish-processing and tourism. Lake Khanka (russian: о́зеро Ха́нка) or Lake Xingkai (), is a freshwater lake on the border between Primorsky Krai, Russia and Heilongjiang province, Northeast China (at ). Etymology On the Delisle map of 1706, the lake is named ''Himgon'' and from it flows a river labelled with the names ''Usurou'' and ''Ousuri''. The Sea of Okhotsk ( rus, Охо́тское мо́ре, Ohótskoye móre ; ja, オホーツク海, Ohōtsuku-kai) is a marginal sea of the western Pacific Ocean. The Sikhote-Alin (russian: Сихотэ́-Али́нь, , , ) is a mountain range in Primorsky and Khabarovsk Krais, Russia, extending about to the northeast of the Russian Pacific seaport of Vladivostok. The highest summits are Tordoki Yani at above sea level, Ko Mountain () in Khabarovsk Krai and Anik Mountain () in Primorsky Krai. Geography Sikhote-Alin is a temperate zone, though species typical of northern taiga (such as reindeer and the Ussuri brown bear) coexist with the Amur tiger, Amur leopard, and Asiatic black bear. The region holds very few wolves, due to competition with tigers. The longest-lived tree in the region is a millennium-old Japanese yew.
