General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran ( fa, ستاد کل نیروهای مسلح جمهوری اسلامی ایران) is the most senior military body in Iran, with an aim to implement policy, monitor and coordinate activities within the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Armed Forces. Mohammad Bagheri ( fa, محمد باقری, born Mohammad-Hossein Afshordi ( fa, محمدحسین افشردی) is an Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps military commander serving at the most senior military position available in Iran, Chief of Staff for the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Cabinet of Iran ( fa, هیئت‌دولت ایران, ''Heyatedovlat-e Iran'') is a formal body composed of government officials, ministers, chosen and led by a President. Its composition must be approved by a vote in the Parliament. According to the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the President may dismiss members of the cabinet, but must do so in writing, and new appointees must again be approved by the Parliament. Ataollah Salehi ( fa, عطاءالله صالحی; born 9 March 1950) is the former and third commander-in-chief of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, serving from 2005 until 2017. Ali Sayyad Shirazi ( fa, علی صیاد شیرازی, June 1944 – 10 April 1999) was an Iranian regular military (''Artesh'') officer. He served as commander of the Ground Force during Iran–Iraq War.
