Geet (song)
Geet (song or lyrical poetry) (Hindi:गीत) (Urdu:گیت) in Hindi and in Urdu may refer to any poem set to music that can be sung alone or as a duet or in chorus. It has remained popular in all parts of the Indian sub-continent particularly in the Hindi and Urdu speaking areas. In its classical form a Geet conforms to Prabandha, a composition bound by Dhatu that comprises Sthayi, Antara, Dhrupad etc.; and Anga that comprises etc. Therefore, it has a beginning part known as Prabandha which is followed by an Udgraah or Dhruv which is its part that is repeatedly sung and cannot be left out, the ending part is known as Aabhog and that part of the geet which is between Dhruv and Aabhog is called Pada or Antara. Dhrupad, Khyal, Thumri and Ghazals are the accepted forms of Hindustani classical music. The legendary singers Mian Tansen and Raja Man Singh Tomar were Dhrupad singers. ''Geet'' () is a 1992 Indian Hindi film directed by Partho Ghosh. The film stars Avinash Wadhawan, Divya Bharti in lead roles. Shakti Kapoor, Laxmikant Berde play supporting roles. Plot The movie depicts Rajesh Tripathi ( Avinash Wadhawan) living in poverty with his widowed father, Shivshankar. Rajesh left his village to study in Mumbai where he becomes a fan of singer and dancer, Neha (Divya Bharti) of whom he paints hoardings. Neha's Manager, Hari Saxena (Shakti Kapoor) harasses her, but she refuses his advances and slaps him. Angered Hari then calls another singer to replace Neha and secretly puts vermilion (''sindoor'') in ''laddoos'' and gives them to Neha. Geet is an Indian motivational speaker, educator, social activist and former lawyer. She rose to prominence through social media platforms, and gained popularity on the platforms TikTok and Facebook. She is one of the most prominent TikTok users in India, with over 6 million followers. She is known for her social work, helping children from the slums. Geet Chaturvedi (born 27 November 1977) is a Hindi poet, short story author, lyricist, screenwriter and novelist. Often regarded as an avant-garde writer, he was awarded the Bharat Bhushan Agrawal Award for poetry in 2007 and Krishna Pratap Award for Fiction in 2014. He lives in Bhopal, India. He is active both as a fiction writer and critic. In 2011, ''The Indian Express'' included him in a list of the 'Ten Best Writers' of India. His poems have been translated into 22 languages worldwide. He translated the work of great Spanish Poet Pablo Neruda in Hindi and many others. Geet Siriram Sethi (born 17 April 1961) of India is a professional player of English billiards who dominated the sport throughout much of the 1990s. He is also a notable amateur (ex-pro) snooker player. He is a five-time winner of the professional-level and a three-time winner of the amateur world championships, and holder of two world records, in English billiards.
