''Garfield's Halloween Adventure'' (originally titled ''Garfield in Disguise'') is a 1985 American animated television special based on the ''Garfield'' comic strip. It is directed by Phil Roman and written by ''Garfield'' creator Jim Davis, and features the voices of Lorenzo Music, Thom Huge, Gregg Berger and C. Lindsay Workman. It originally aired on CBS on October 30, 1985. The special, a ghost story with a pirate theme, originally aired near Halloween and afterwards often played around the time of the holiday. It won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program and was also the subject of an illustrated children's book adaptation. This is the fourth of twelve Garfield television specials made between 1982 and 1991. James Robert Davis (born July 28, 1945) is an American cartoonist, television writer, television producer, screenwriter, and film producer. He is best known as the creator of the comic strips ''Garfield'' and '' U.S. Acres''. Published since 1978, ''Garfield'' is one of the world's most widely syndicated comic strips. Davis's other comics work includes '' Tumbleweeds'', '' Gnorm Gnat'', and ''Mr. Potato Head''. Davis wrote and co-wrote all of the ''Garfield'' TV specials for CBS, originally broadcast between 1982 and 1991. The Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program is a Creative Arts Emmy Award which is given annually to an animated series. In the following list, the first titles listed in gold are the winners; those not in gold are nominees, which are listed in alphabetical order. ''The Ledger'' is a daily newspaper serving Lakeland, Florida, and the Polk County area. The paper was founded on August 22, 1924, as the ''Lakeland Evening Ledger''. In 1927, it bought its main competitor, the morning ''Lakeland Star-Telegram''. By 1930, it was obvious that Lakeland could not support two papers, so Ledger Publishing Company merged the two papers into a single morning paper, the ''Lakeland Ledger and Star-Telegram''. In 1941, ''Star-Telegram'' was dropped from the masthead, and in 1967 the name was shortened to simply ''The Ledger''. The New York Times Company bought ''The Ledger'' in 1970 and owned it until 2012, when it sold its entire regional newspaper group to Halifax Media. ''It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown'' is a 1966 American prime time animated television special based on the comic strip ''Peanuts'' by Charles M. Schulz. A Halloween special, it was the third ''Peanuts'' special (and second holiday-themed special, following ''A Charlie Brown Christmas'') to be produced and animated by Bill Melendez. Leland Maurice Mendelson (March 24, 1933 – December 25, 2019) was an American animation producer and the executive producer of the many ''Peanuts'' animated specials. Biography Mendelson was born in San Francisco and grew up in San Mateo graduating from San Mateo High School. He graduated from Stanford University in 1954 with a degree in English. He was lieutenant in the Air Force for three years. He then worked several years for his father, a vegetable grower and shipper. Career Mendelson's career in television began in 1961, when he started working at San Francisco's KPIX-TV, where he created public service announcements. Odie is a fictional dog who appears in the comic strip ''Garfield'' by Jim Davis. He has also made appearances in the animated television series ''Garfield and Friends'' and ''The Garfield Show'', two live-action/ CGI feature films, and three fully CGI films.
