Gonzo (Muppet)
Gonzo, also known as The Great Gonzo or Gonzo the Great, is a Muppet. Aside from his trademark enthusiasm for performance art, another defining trait of Gonzo is the ambiguity of his species, which has become a running gag in the franchise. He has been considered to be of various origins, including a Frackle, in his debut appearance in '' The Great Santa Claus Switch''; extraterrestrial in '' Muppets from Space''; or avian creature. Gonzo Greg Spillane (born March 28, 1965) is an American radio personality best known for various Morning Radio broadcasts, including ''The Big Dumb Show'' and ''Gonzo in the Morning''. Biography Early life Spillane is a native of Massachusetts, but he moved to California in 1978. Always wanting to work in radio, he began attending Long Beach City College in 1984 to pursue an associates degree in telecommunications. Career Gonzo began his radio journey in 1984 as an intern at famed glam metal radio station KNAC in California. At the time, KNAC was an alternative rock station. When the format changed to a "Pure Rock" format, many of the former DJs left the station, giving Gonzo his first opportunity to move from intern to DJ. ''The Gonzo'' is an undergraduate satire/humor publication founded in 1993 at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. The first editor-in-chief of ''The Gonzo'' and its founder is Richard Diefenbeck, Jr., a continuing education student at Georgetown University who went on to write for Andrei Codrescu and created the first picture blog ever at Dr. Menlo Blogs From Space!. His successor, Shlomi Raz, ran the publication between 1994-1996. Dan Alamariu co-ran the paper with John Mathiesen during 1996. ''Gonzo (circus)'' is a Dutch-language bi-monthly culture and music magazine, first published in 1991 in Belgium. It is based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The magazine primarily focuses on contemporary musical genres such as punk, industrial, hip hop, jazz, improvised music, modern classical music, indie rock, noise, electronic music and world music. The founders are Stefan Joosten and Dirk Vreys. Since 1995 each publication is accompanied by a compilation CD under the name Mind the Gap, featuring new artists. Radislav Jovanov (born 9 August 1964), also known as Gonzo, is a Croatian music video director and cinematographer. Jovanov was born in Zagreb. After graduating from high school, he worked for several years as a photographer for ''Polet'', a popular student newspaper, and then as a camera assistant at the Radiotelevision Zagreb, working on a number of documentaries, TV films and TV series. At the same time, Jovanov studied cinematography at the Academy of Dramatic Art, University of Zagreb. Jovanov's first music video was award-winning "Leteći odred" for Psihomodo Pop in 1988.
