G15 Shenyang–Haikou Expressway
The Shenyang–Haikou Expressway (), designated as G15 and commonly referred to as the Shenhai Expressway () is an expressway in China that connects the cities of Shenyang, Liaoning, and Haikou, Hainan. When fully complete, it will be in length. One of its oldest portions is the Shenyang–Dalian Expressway, or Shenda Expressway () is a expressway that connects Shenyang and Dalian, the two largest cities of China's Liaoning province. The expressway is complete for the majority of its length except for two major water crossings that have yet to be built. A fixed link across the Bohai Sea is required to join the first missing link from Dalian to Yantai. The construction of a tunnel was announced in February 2011. Second, a bridge has to be constructed across the Qiongzhou Strait from Mainland China to Hainan. Hangzhou Bay Bridge
Hangzhou Bay Bridge () is a long highway bridge with two separate cable-stayed portions, built across the mouth of Hangzhou Bay in the eastern coastal region of China. It connects the municipalities of Jiaxing and Ningbo in Zhejiang province. Construction of the bridge was completed on June 14, 2007, and an opening ceremony was held on June 26, 2007. The bridge was opened to public May 1, 2008, after a considerable period of testing and evaluation. The bridge shortened the highway travel distance between Ningbo and Shanghai from to and reduced travel time from 4 to 2 hours. At in length, Hangzhou Bay Bridge was among the ten longest trans-oceanic bridges. It is not to be confused with "Outer Hangzhou Bay Bridge", a project under study which would ring the bay islands between Shanghai and Ningbo. Qiongzhou Strait
The Qiongzhou Strait, also called the is the Chinese strait that separates Guangdong's Leizhou Peninsula from the island province of Hainan. It connects the Gulf of Tonkin on its west to the South China Sea on its east. The strait is on average wide with a maximum water depth of approximately . The strait is susceptible to closure during strong typhoon activity. Whales and dugongs were once common in the strait. History The strait was crossed by the People's Liberation Army forces in the spring of 1950. Transportation The Guangdong–Hainan Ferry (part of the Guangdong–Hainan railway) carries rail cars and automotive vehicles across the strait. Bohai Strait Tunnel
The Bohai Strait Tunnel or Dalian-Yantai Tunnel is a proposed undersea tunnel construction project across the Bohai Strait to connect Dalian on the Liaodong Peninsula with Yantai on the Shandong Peninsula. The official name for the project is Bohai Strait Cross-Sea Traffic Way ( zh, 渤海海峡跨海通道). Crossing the Bohai Strait, the tunnel would be long, of which would be underwater. This would exceed the combined lengths of the two longest undersea tunnels on Earth, the Seikan Tunnel () and the Channel Tunnel (). The tunnel is planned to run more than under the Strait. Operated by China Railway Engineering Corporation, the tunnel would be linked to the Chinese high speed railway system. Cars would be loaded on railway carriages to make the 40-minute crossing. It is the northwestern and innermost extension of the Yellow Sea, to which it connects to the east via the Bohai Strait. Haikou (; ), also spelled as Hoikow is the capital and most populous city of the Chinese province of Hainan. Haikou city is situated on the northern coast of Hainan, by the mouth of the Nandu River.
