Goleta Station
Goleta station is a passenger rail station in the city of Goleta, California. It is served by the Amtrak ''Pacific Surfliner''; it is the northern terminal for three of those round trips. Trains terminating in Goleta are stored on a storage track adjacent to the station. The station is convenient for the Santa Barbara Airport and the University of California Santa Barbara. Goleta, California
Goleta ( ; ; Spanish for "schooner") is a city in southern Santa Barbara County, California, United States. It was incorporated as a city in 2002, after a long period as the largest unincorporated populated area in the county. As of the 2000 census, the census-designated place (CDP) had a total population of 55,204. A significant portion of the census territory of 2000 did not include the newer portions of the city. The population of Goleta was 32,690 at the 2020 census. It is known for being close to the campus of the University of California, Santa Barbara (UC Santa Barbara). Santa Barbara Subdivision
The Coast Line is a railroad line between Burbank, California and the San Francisco Bay Area, roughly along the Pacific Coast. It is the shortest rail route between Los Angeles and the Bay Area. Side Platform
A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. A station having dual side platforms, one for each direction of travel, is the basic design used for double-track railway lines (as opposed to, for instance, the island platform where a single platform lies between the tracks). The ''Pacific Surfliner'' is a passenger train service serving the communities on the coast of Southern California between San Diego and San Luis Obispo. The ''Pacific Surfliner'' is Amtrak's third-busiest service (exceeded in ridership only by the ''Northeast Regional'' and ''Acela''), and the busiest outside the Northeast Corridor. Like all regional trains in California, the ''Pacific Surfliner'' is operated by a joint powers authority. Santa Barbara Municipal Airport is west of downtown Santa Barbara, California, United States. The airfield covers of land and has three runways. It is near the University of California, Santa Barbara, and the city of Goleta. The airport was annexed to the city of Santa Barbara by a , corridor, mostly under the Pacific Ocean (a shoestring annexation). Goleta Depot
__NOTOC__ Goleta Depot is a train station building in Goleta, California constructed by the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1901, as part of the completion of the Coast Route linking Los Angeles and San Francisco. It is a Southern Pacific standard design Two Story Combination Depot No. 22. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the California Register of Historical Resources and is the centerpiece of the South Coast Railroad Museum. Southern Pacific closed its Goleta station in the 1970s. Eventually, Goleta Beautiful, a civic organization, obtained rights to the abandoned building which was moved on November 18–19, 1981 to nearby Lake Los Carneros County Park. South Coast Railroad Museum
The South Coast Railroad Museum in Goleta, California is a showplace for the Goleta Depot, a preserved 1901 Southern Pacific Railroad train station. The museum also features the Goleta Short Line, a gauge miniature railroad, a Southern Pacific caboose, and a model train set in a panorama of the cities of Goleta and Santa Barbara, California.
