Musella Lasiocarpa
''Musella lasiocarpa'' ( syn. ''Musa lasiocarpa''), commonly known as Chinese dwarf banana, golden lotus banana or Chinese yellow banana, is the sole species in the genus ''Musella''. It is thus a close relative of bananas, and also a member of the family Musaceae. Distribution and habitat The plant is native to Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan Provinces in China, where it grows high in the mountains up to an altitude of 2500 m. Description It is known for its erect, yellow pseudostems (see image), generally appearing during the second year of cultivation, that can last a few months. Just before opening, the yellow, flower-like pseudostem resembles a lotus - from which the plant gets one of its names. Horticulture Under its synonym ''Musa lasiocarpa'', this plant has won the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. It can be grown outside, but requires protection from freezing temperatures. See also *List of hardy bananas Hardy bananas are any of the species of banan ...

Golden Lotus (album)
''Golden Lotus'' is an album by pianist Kenny Barron, recorded in 1980 and first released on the Muse label in 1982 before being reissued on CD by 32 Records with '' Sunset to Dawn'' in 1997. Reception In his review on AllMusic, Ron Wynn called it a "solid 1980 session with the always vibrant, challenging pianist Kenny Barron and the underrated saxophonist John Stubblefield in fiery form" In ''JazzTimes'', David Zych wrote "''Golden Lotus'', vintage 1982, has Barron shunning the electrics, opting now to let his fingers control the touch and nuance of the tunes he's interpreting. All the tunes are his own, save for a wonderful "Darn that Dream," where Barron bares his soul with a gorgeous solo rendition of the ballad".Zych, D.JazzTimes Review accessed January 9, 2017 Track listing All compositions by Kenny Barron except where noted. # "Golden Lotus" – 5:57 # "Dewdrop" – 6:38 # "Cincero" – 8:57 # "Darn That Dream" (Jimmy Van Heusen, Eddie DeLange) – 9:16 # "Row House" â ...

Jin Ping Mei
''Jin Ping Mei'' ()—translated into English as ''The Plum in the Golden Vase'' or ''The Golden Lotus''—is a Chinese novel of manners composed in vernacular Chinese during the latter half of the 16th century during the late Ming dynasty (1368–1644). Consisting of 100 chapters, it was published under the pseudonym Lanling Xiaoxiao Sheng (), "The Scoffing Scholar of Lanling," but the only clue to the actual identity is that the author hailed from Lanling County in present-day Shandong.Lu (1923) p.408 The novel circulated in manuscript as early as 1596, and may have undergone revision up to its first printed edition in 1610. The most widely read recension, edited and published with commentaries by Zhang Zhupo in 1695, deleted or rewrote passages to help understand the author's intentions. The explicit depiction of sexuality garnered the novel a notoriety akin to ''Lady Chatterley's Lover'' and ''Lolita'' in the West, but critics such as the translator David Tod Roy see a firm m ...

Pan Jinlian
Pan Jinlian () is a fictional character in the Chinese novel ''Jin Ping Mei'' (''The Plum in the Golden Vase)'', and a minor character in ''Water Margin'', one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. She is an archetypal femme fatale and one of the most notorious villainesses of classical Chinese culture. She has also become the patron goddess of brothels and prostitutes. Name Pan Jinlian's name appears to be inspired by Pan Yunu, an imperial consort of the Southern Qi. Her husband, Xiao Baojuan, was obsessed with her small feet and made her dance on golden (金, ''jin'') lotuses (蓮, ''lian'') . Pan Jinlian also appeared to be based on the false rumors a real namesake lady who had a sharply different personality. The reputation of real-life Pan Jinlian was badly affected by the fictional Pan Jinlian and this incident also caused a rift between Pan family and Shi family (the family of Shi Nai'an, author of ''Water Margin'') for a long time until descendants of ...
