Gherardini Family
The Gherardini family of Montagliari (or Florence) was one of the most prominent historical Italian nobility, Italian noble families from Tuscany, Italy. Through the Amideis, the family was of Roman people, Roman descent. Between the 9th and 14th centuries, they played an important role in Tuscany. Its influence was also felt in the Veneto and Emilia-Romagna, Emilia regions between the 16th and 18th centuries, and during the Italian Risorgimento as well as in today's Italian politics and economy. The family's restless and fighting nature has aroused the curiosity of many historians of the Middle Ages. Lise Girardin
Lise Girardin (15 February 1921 – 16 October 2010) was a Swiss politician. A member of the Free Democratic Party, she was the first woman to be elected mayor of Geneva and the first woman named to the Council of States. Biography Lise Girardin was born on 15 February 1921 in Geneva. She graduated from the University of Geneva and became a teacher. In 1960, the Canton of Geneva granted women the right to vote. Girardin, who already held a lower judgeship, ran for and won the 1961 election to the Grand Council of Geneva. In 1968, she was elected mayor, the first woman to hold that post. After a referendum of 1971, Switzerland granted women's suffrage at the federal level. In the 1971 elections later that year, Girardin was elected to the Council of States while 10 others were elected to the National Council, making them the first women to sit in the Federal Assembly. Raymond George Girardin Jr. (January 23, 1935 – February 28, 2019) was an American film, stage, and television actor. Life and career Girardin was born in Wakefield, Massachusetts, the son of Raymond Sr. and Mildred Girardin. He attended and graduated from Wakefield High School, which after graduating, he served in the United States Marine Corps for two years, which after his discharge, he attended Boston University, studying theatre. Marie-Louise Victoire Girardin (29 June 1754 – 18 December 1794) also known as Louis Girardin was a Frenchwoman, who disguised as a man became a sailor and joined an expedition of discovery to Australia and the South Pacific. Early life Marie-Louise Victoire Girardin was born 29 June 1754 in the parish of Saint-Louis, Versailles, France, one of nine children of Jean Girardin and Angélique Benoise (née Hanet). Marie-Louise married Etienne Lesserteur in 1776, their only child Jean died 14 April 1778 and her husband died 14 July 1781. After giving birth to an illegitimate child, Marie-Louise disguised herself as a man and fled to Brest with a letter of introduction to the widowed sister of Jean-Michel Huon de Kermadec.
