Fulvio Melia
Fulvio Melia (born 2 August 1956) is an Italy, Italian-Americans, American astrophysicist, cosmologist and author. He is professor of physics, astronomy and the applied math program at the University of Arizona and was a scientific editor of ''The Astrophysical Journal'' and an associate editor of ''The Astrophysical Journal Letters''. A former Presidential Young Investigator and Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Sloan Research Fellow, he is the author of six English books (and various foreign translations) and 230 refereed articles on astrophysics, theoretical astrophysics and cosmology. Career Melia was born in Gorizia, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy. He was educated at University of Melbourne, Melbourne University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and held a post-doctoral research position at the University of Chicago, before taking an assistant professorship at Northwestern University in 1987. Gorizia
Gorizia (; ; , ; ; ) is a town and (municipality) in northeastern Italy, in the autonomous region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It is located at the foot of the Julian Alps, bordering Slovenia. It is the capital of the Province of Gorizia, Regional decentralization entity of Gorizia and is a local center of tourism, industry, and commerce. Since 1947, a Twin cities (geographical proximity), twin town of Nova Gorica has developed on the other side of the modern-day Italy–Slovenia border. The region was subject to territorial dispute between Italy and Yugoslavia after World War II: after the new boundaries were established in 1947 and the old town was left to Italy, Nova Gorica was built on the Yugoslav side. The two towns constitute a conurbation, which also includes the Slovenian municipality of Šempeter-Vrtojba. ''The Astrophysical Journal'' (''ApJ'') is a peer-reviewed scientific journal of astrophysics and astronomy, established in 1895 by American astronomers George Ellery Hale and James Edward Keeler. The journal discontinued its print edition and became an electronic-only journal in 2015. Since 1953, ''The Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series'' (''ApJS'') has been published in conjunction with ''The Astrophysical Journal'', with generally longer articles to supplement the material in the journal.
