Beti-Pahuin
The Beti-Pahuin are a Bantu ethnic group located in rain forest regions of Cameroon, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and São Tomé and Príncipe. Though they separate themselves into several individual clans, they all share a common origin, history and culture Estimated to be well over 8 million individuals in the early 21st century, they form the largest ethnic group in central Cameroon and its capital city of Yaoundé, in Gabon, and in Equatorial Guinea. Their Beti languages are mutually intelligible. Group distinctions The Beti-Pahuin are made up of over 20 individual clans. Altogether, they inhabit a territory of forests and rolling hills that stretches from the Sanaga River in the north to Equatorial Guinea and the northern halves of Gabon to Congo to the south, and from the Atlantic Ocean to the west to the Dja River in the east. Nathan Mark Fong (March 16, 1959 – March 30, 2020) was a Canadian chef, food stylist, media personality and activist. Early life and education Nathan Mark Fong was born in West Vancouver on March 16, 1959. His parents were Edna and Robert Fong. He had four siblings and was the oldest. The Fong's owned an IGA grocery store in the Dundarave neighborhood of West Vancouver. When he was a teenager, Fong worked at the grocery store as a stocker. Fong attended the University of British Columbia for commerce. He never completed his degree, deciding to study cooking at the Dubrulle Culinary Institute at the Art Institute of Vancouver. Martin Fong (died 2014) was a film producer, director, cinematographer, stylist, actor, celebrity photographer, and was notable as one of the first major American tap dancers of Chinese descent to dance on the Las Vegas strip. James Wong Howe Fong was raised by cinematographer James Wong Howe, A.S.C., who worked on over 130 movies, won 2 Academy Awards and received 16 Academy Awards Nominations. Howe was also Fong's godfather and mentor. Luise Fong
Luise Fong (born 1964) is a Malaysian-born New Zealand artist. Her work is in the permanent collection of Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki. Fong was born in Sandakan, Malaysia in 1964 and moved to New Zealand as a child. In 1983 she began studying textile design at Wellington Polytechnic. In 1986 she was accepted into Elam School of Fine Arts at the University of Auckland, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in print-making in 1989. Between 1993 and 1994 Fong worked as a junior lecturer at Elam School of Fine Arts. In 1994 she was the artist-in-residence at the Victorian College of the Arts at the University of Melbourne and in the same year was the joint winner (with Bill Hammond) of the Visa Gold Art Award. Leslie Robert "Les" Fong (born 24 August 1956) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for West Perth Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Playing career After being recruited from Nollamara, he joined the club in 1973 as a rover in the reserves. Despite being only 16, he played well enough to take the fairest and best award. He made his debut in the senior team in round 8 of the same year against East Fremantle Football Club, becoming the youngest player to represent West Perth at league level. Leo Fong (; 23 November 1928 – 18 February 2022) was a Chinese-American martial artist, actor, boxer, and Methodist minister who had been making films, acting, and directing since the early 1970s. Fong was still acting in action films right up until his early 90s. Background Fong was born on 23 November 1928 in Xinhui county (present Xinhui district of the city of Jiangmen), located in the province of Guangzhou, China. Fong soon relocated to Seattle with his parents and siblings. They were detained for a time, as was common with immigrants from Asia. Heather Jeanne Fong (, born 1956) is the former chief of police for San Francisco, California, United States. She is the first woman to lead the San Francisco Police Department, and the first Asian American woman to head a major metropolitan city police force.
