Further (Solace Album)
''Further'' is the first full-length album by American heavy metal band Solace. This album's cover art was done by heavy metal art veteran Wes Benscoter and is entitled "Midnight Mass 2". Recorded by Eric Rachel at Trax East Studios (birthplace of albums from such New Jersey bands as Skid Row and The Misfits), ''Further'' was quickly hailed as an important addition to the independent doom and stoner metal movements. Though comparisons were made to such genre bands as Goatsnake, The Obsessed and Cathedral, ''Further'' was considered by some darker than most works of the stoner style, and was even compared to the likes of Black Sabbath, Tool, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains. Originally released in 2000, the US version featured 8 tracks, while the European version contained an additional 2 cover songs. Solace (band)
Solace is an American stoner metal band from Asbury Park, New Jersey, formed in 1996 by the remaining members of Atlantic Records artist Godspeed. They have released four full-length studio albums. iTunes.com voted the band's third album ''A.D. (album), A.D.'' "2010 Metal Album of the Year". Career Early history Tommy Southard and Rob Hultz had previously been in the metal band Godspeed, which disbanded after one album in 1994. Following stints as lead guitarist for both Sugartooth and Slap Rocket, Southard reformed the band in 1996 with Hultz and former Glueneck singer Jason, naming the revamped outfit Solace. After a 1997 demo, Solace released their self-titled 7-inch debut in 1998, followed by 1999's ''Distanced from Reality'' EP, a split with fellow New Jerseyans Solarized. The Obsessed
The Obsessed is an American doom metal band from Potomac, Maryland, led by Scott "Wino" Weinrich. Formed in 1979, they recorded a few demos and played a handful of live shows until they first split up in 1986 when Weinrich joined as lead vocalist for Saint Vitus. About two years before his departure from Saint Vitus, Weinrich reformed The Obsessed in 1989, and three studio albums − '' The Obsessed'' (1990), '' Lunar Womb'' (1991) and '' The Church Within'' (1994) − were released before disbanding for the second time in 1995. In popular music, a cover version, cover song, remake, revival, or simply cover is a new performance or recording by a musician other than the original performer or composer of the song. Alice in Chains (often abbreviated as AiC) is an American rock band formed in Seattle in 1987. Since 2006, the band's lineup has comprised vocalist/guitarists Jerry Cantrell and William DuVall, bassist Mike Inez, and drummer Sean Kinney. Soundgarden
Soundgarden was an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1984 by singer and drummer Chris Cornell, lead guitarist Kim Thayil, and bassist Hiro Yamamoto. Cornell switched to rhythm guitar in 1985, replaced on drums initially by Scott Sundquist, and later by Matt Cameron in 1986. Yamamoto left in 1989 and was replaced initially by Jason Everman and shortly thereafter by Ben Shepherd. Soundgarden disbanded in 1997 and reformed in 2010. Cathedral were a British doom metal band from Coventry, England. The group gained attention upon release of its debut album, '' Forest of Equilibrium'' (1991), which is considered a classic of the genre. Goatsnake is an American stoner/doom metal band from Los Angeles. They have released three studio albums, the first being 1999's '' Goatsnake Vol. 1''. History Goatsnake was formed in 1996 after the disbanding of The Obsessed.
