Frenchkiss Records
Frenchkiss Records is an independent record label based in New York City. The label was started in 1999 by Syd Butler, bassist and founder of Les Savy Fav. The label's first purpose was to release Les Savy Fav's second album ''The Cat and The Cobra'', but has since been the label responsible for discovering a varying array of artists such as the Hold Steady, the Antlers, the Dodos, Local Natives and Passion Pit. The label has recently added a music publishing side as well, Frenchkiss Publishing. The company was acquired by The Orchard in September 2014. Frenchkiss Label Group In early 2012 Frenchkiss Records launched the distribution company Frenchkiss Label Group, which is "focused on growing visibility for indie labels in the spirit of communities such as Dischord, Rough Trade and Touch & Go." Animal Scream is a rock band formed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 2019. Animal Scream's debut album ''Nightwalk'' was released on July 24, 2020, on American Hermitage records. History As 1,2,3 Chad Monticue and Josh Sickels both played in the band 1,2,3 along with Nic Snyder and Mike Yamamoto. Their first album ''New Heaven'' released on Frenchkiss Records garnered critical review, including a 6.3 from Pitchfork and being named ''The Guardians new band of the week. The Drums is an American indie pop band/project from New York City. It was initially formed by Jonathan Pierce and Jacob Graham as Goat Explosion, and later added Adam Kessler and Connor Hanwick. Graham exited the band in 2016. Since then, the band has operated as a solo project of sole remaining member Jonathan Pierce. Formation Founding members Jonathan (Jonny) Pierce and Jacob Graham became friends as children, having met at Bible camp. Some years later, they formed a short-lived electro-pop group initially named Goat Explosion, eventually renamed Elkland (band), Elkland. Diet Cig is an American indie rock duo that formed in September 2014 in New Paltz, New York, United States. The band consists of Alex Luciano on guitar/vocals and Noah Bowman on drums. Their first studio album, ''Swear I'm Good At This'', was released in April 2017. Their second studio album, ''Do You Wonder About Me'', was released in May 2020. Luciano and Bowman met at a house show in New Paltz during the summer of 2014. Bowman's old band, Earl Boykins, was playing at the house show, where Luciano needed a cigarette lighter. She interrupted the band's set to ask Bowman for one, but he gave her a bottle of wine instead. Afterwards, Luciano got his number and told him she'd make a music video for him. Devin Garrett Townsend (born May 5, 1972) is a Canadian singer, guitarist, songwriter, and record producer. He founded extreme metal band Strapping Young Lad and was its primary songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist from 1994 to 2007. He has also had an extensive solo career and has released a total of 29 albums across all of his projects as of 2024. Crocodiles is a noise pop/indie pop band from San Diego, California, US. The group was formed in 2008 by core members Brandon Welchez and Charles Rowell after the break-up of their former punk bands Some Girls (California band), Some Girls and The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower.
