Flight Of The Conchords
Flight of the Conchords are a New Zealand musical comedy duo formed in Wellington in 1998. The band consists of multi-instrumentalists Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement. Beginning as a popular live comedy act in the early 2000s, the duo's comedy and music became the basis of the self-titled BBC radio series (2005) and, subsequently, the HBO series '' Flight of the Conchords'' (2007–2009). Most recently, they released the HBO comedy special '' Live in London'' in 2018. The special was concurrently released by Sub Pop as their fifth album. The duo's live performances are a combination of skits, audience-interactions and songs while they continue to tour periodically. They were named Best Alternative Comedy Act at the 2005 US Comedy Arts Festival and Best Newcomer at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, and received a nomination for the Perrier Comedy Award at the 2003 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Jemaine Atea Mahana Clement (born 10 January 1974) is a New Zealand actor, comedian, musician, and filmmaker. He has released several albums with Bret McKenzie as the musical comedy duo Flight of the Conchords, and created a comedy TV series titled ''Flight of the Conchords'' for both the BBC and HBO, for which he received six Primetime Emmy nominations. ''Flight of the Conchords'' was a radio series broadcast on BBC Radio 2 in 2005, starring the New Zealand musical comedy duo Flight of the Conchords. A 3-CD set containing all the episodes was released in 2006 by the BBC. Each disc consisted of 2 episodes. At the 2006 Sony Radio Academy Awards, the series won bronze in the Comedy Award. The later HBO television series of the same name was a spin-off from this radio series. The series is regularly repeated on BBC Radio 4 Extra. A Director's Cut release was planned by BBC, which was set to include "outtakes and full-length songs from the duo", and was initially set to be released on 13 November 2008 and was available for pre-order from the BBC Shop. The 2003 Edinburgh Festival Fringe was the 56th Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Perrier Comedy Award
The Edinburgh Comedy Awards (formerly the Perrier Comedy Awards, and also briefly known by other names for sponsorship reasons) are presented to the comedy shows deemed to have been the best at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland.
