Filth Hounds Of Hades
''Filth Hounds of Hades'' is the debut studio album by English heavy metal band Tank, released in March 1982 on the Kamaflage label. The album was produced by "Fast" Eddie Clarke of Motörhead, and recorded between December 1981 and January 1982 at Ramport Studios in London. The Canadian pressing on Attic Records had an alternate blue cover with the dogs in maroon and with a different logo. This was also used on the 2023 remastered LP reissue on High Roller Records. The European (except Germany and the Netherlands) and Australian releases featured a dark blue cover with black dogs, while the Dutch one had a light blue cover and retained the black dogs. The German cover had a black cover and black dogs. The title came from Viv Stanshall's '' Sir Henry at Rawlinson End'', originally a radio series recorded for the John Peel show in 1975, and later a 1978 album and 1980 film: "Filth hounds of Hades!: Sir Henry Rawlinson surfaced from the blackness, hot and fidgety, fuss, ... Tank (band)
Tank (often stylized as TANK) is an English heavy metal band formed in 1980 by Algy Ward, a former member of The Damned. The original band is known as part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement. Tank was often compared to Motörhead as both bands were trios fronted by singing bassists, and played a loose, almost punk-styled metal music with often colourful lyrics. After acrimonious legal and creative disputes, Algy Ward led one version of the group until his death on 17 March 2023, while guitarists Mick Tucker and Cliff Evans continued to lead another version of the band. Algy Ward
Alasdair Mackie "Algy" Ward (11 July 1959 – 17 May 2023) was an English punk rock and heavy metal bass guitarist and singer. He began his career in 1977, as a bassist for the Australian proto punk garage band the Saints. Afterwards, he joined The Damned, before founding Tank in 1980. Tank were part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement. Career with The Saints Alasdair Mackie Ward first rose to fame by joining the Australian punk rock band the Saints, replacing their former bassist Kym Bradshaw, who went on to play with The Lurkers, and after that, King, a collective formed with Captain Sensible, Henry Badowski, members of Wreckless Eric's band and members of Johnny Moped's band. Artillery (band)
Artillery are a Danish thrash metal band. They participated in the early development of the genre, and were pioneers in the Danish thrash metal scene with their highly energetic, riff-centric and often fast-paced music. After releasing three full-length albums and touring extensively throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, Artillery disbanded in 1991, but reunited seven years later, only to disband once again in 2000. However, they reformed again in 2007 and are still together today. History The band formed in June 1982 in Taastrup, a suburb of Copenhagen by drummer Carsten Nielsen and guitarist Jørgen Sandau. Sir Henry At Rawlinson End (film)
''Sir Henry at Rawlinson End'' is a 1980 British film based on the eponymous character created by Vivian Stanshall (see Rawlinson End, Sir Henry at Rawlinson End (album)). It stars Trevor Howard as Sir Henry and Stanshall himself as Henry's brother Hubert. Unusually, the film was released in sepia-toned monochrome. After a long wait, while the film obtained cult status, it was finally released on DVD in 2006. John Peel
John Robert Parker Ravenscroft (30 August 1939 – 25 October 2004), better known as John Peel, was an English radio presenter and journalist. He was the longest-serving of the original disc jockeys on BBC Radio 1, broadcasting regularly from 1967 until his death in 2004. Peel was one of the first broadcasters to play psychedelic rock and progressive rock records on British radio. He is widely acknowledged for promoting artists of many genres, including pop, dub reggae, punk rock and post-punk, electronic music and dance music, indie rock, extreme metal and British hip hop. Vivian Stanshall (born Victor Anthony Stanshall; 21 March 1943 – 5 March 1995) was an English singer-songwriter, musician, author, poet and wit, best known for his work with the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, for his exploration of the British upper classes in ''Sir Henry at Rawlinson End'' (as a radio series for John Peel, as an audio recording, as a book and as a film), and for acting as Master of Ceremonies on Mike Oldfield's album ''Tubular Bells''. Motörhead
Motörhead () were an English rock music, rock band formed in London in 1975 by bassist and lead vocalist Lemmy Kilmister, guitarist Larry Wallis and drummer Lucas Fox. Ramport Studios was a recording studio in south London's Battersea district, built by the Who in 1973. History Originally called "The Kitchen" and later renamed Ramport Studios, the recording studio was initially built as a private studio for The Who, who intended to use it to record ''Quadrophenia''. The building, located at 115 Thessaly Road in south London's Battersea district, was a former church hall which required extensive remodeling, with the resulting expenses leading to Ramport later operating as a commercial studio in order to recoup revenue.
