Walter Feit
Walter Feit (October 26, 1930 – July 29, 2004) was an Austrian-born American mathematician who worked in finite group theory and representation theory. His contributions provided elementary infrastructure used in algebra, geometry, topology, number theory, and logic. His work helped the development and utilization of sectors like cryptography, chemistry, and physics. He was born to a Jewish family in Vienna and escaped for England in 1939 via the Kindertransport. He moved to the United States in 1946 where he became an undergraduate at the University of Chicago. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Michigan in 1955, and later became a professor at Cornell University, and at Yale University in 1964. His most famous result is his proof, joint with John G. Thompson, of the Feit–Thompson theorem that all finite groups of odd order are solvable. Rosemary Feit Covey
Rosemary Feit Covey (born July 17, 1954) is an American printmaker, whose work focuses on wood engraving. She was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, immigrated to the United States in 1962, and studied at Cornell University and the Maryland Institute College of Art, and with the master wood engraver and illustrator Barry Moser. She currently resides in Alexandria, Virginia, and has a studio at the Torpedo Factory Art Center. Works Her work deals with the themes of death, disease and the effects of illness. She has worked primarily in the medium of wood engraving since 1982. In 2007, she was commissioned by blogger David Welch, who was suffering from a brain tumor, to create a series of works depicting his treatment. In 2007-2008, she worked as a fellow at Georgetown University Hospital exploring her interest in these subjects. Phra Chenduriyang
Phra Chenduriyang (Piti Vādyakara) (, ; born as ''Peter Feit'', (July 13, 1883 – December 25, 1968) was a Thai composer, conductor, music professor, collector and arranger. He was the son of a German American immigrant, Jacob Feit, and a Mon mother. However, he never left Thailand and identified himself solely as Thai. He composed the Thai National Anthem. Feit's father Jacob, who was also a musician, had arrived in Siam (the former name of Thailand) during the reign of King Rama V (Chulalongkorn) and became a trumpet teacher at the royal court. Feit studied piano and western string instruments with his father and at the Assumption College, Bangkok. In 1917, he joined the Royal Entertainment Department and formed the first western-style orchestra in Siam. Carl Feit is a noted cancer research scientist and occupant of the Dr. Joseph and Rachel Ades Chair in Health Sciences at Yeshiva University. He has served as Chairman of the Science Division of Yeshiva College since 1985. Prior to that he was a research scientist at The Laboratory of Immunodiagnosis at the Sloan-Kettering Institute for Cancer Research.
