Failure To Launch (film)
''Failure to Launch'' is a 2006 American romantic comedy film directed by Tom Dey, and starring Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker alongside Zooey Deschanel, Justin Bartha, Bradley Cooper, Terry Bradshaw, and Kathy Bates. The film focuses on a 35-year-old man living with his parents who shows no interest in leaving the comfortable life that they, especially his mother, have made for him. It was released on March 10, 2006, and grossed over $128 million. Plot Thirty-five-year-old Tripp still lives with his parents Al and Sue in Baltimore. His best friends Demo and Ace also still live in their parents' homes and seem proud of it. Tripp has many casual girlfriends. Tom Dey
Thomas Ridgeway Dey (born April 14, 1965) is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. His credits include ''Shanghai Noon'', '' Showtime'', ''Failure to Launch'', and ''Marmaduke''. Early life Dey was born in Hanover, New Hampshire, the son of Phoebe Ann (née Evans) and Charles Frederick Dey, who was Associate Dean at Dartmouth College from 1963 to 1973 and headmaster of Choate Rosemary Hall. He is a graduate of The Choate School (now Choate Rosemary Hall) in Wallingford, Connecticut, Brown University, and the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. Empty nest syndrome is a feeling of grief and loneliness parents may feel when their children move out of the family home, such as to live on their own or to pursue a higher education. It is not a clinical condition. Since the departure of their children from "the nest" leads to adjustments in parents' lives, it frequently results in depression and a loss of purpose for parents.
