Task State Segment
The task state segment (TSS) is a structure on x86-based computers which holds information about a Task (computing), task. It is used by the operating system Kernel (operating system), kernel for task management. Specifically, the following information is stored in the TSS: * Processor register state * I/O port permissions * Protection ring, Inner-privilege level stack pointers * Previous TSS link * Debug state * Shadow stack pointer All this information should be stored at specific locations within the TSS as specified in Volume 3(a), Chapter 8 of the IA-32 manuals. Location of the TSS The TSS may reside anywhere in computer memory, memory. A segment register called the task register (TR) holds a x86 memory segmentation, segment selector that points to a valid TSS segment descriptor which resides in the Global Descriptor Table, GDT (a TSS descriptor may not reside in the Local Descriptor Table, LDT). Therefore, to use a TSS the following must be done by the operating system ke ...

Toxic Shock Syndrome
Toxic shock syndrome (TSS) is a condition caused by Exotoxin, bacterial toxins. Symptoms may include fever, rash, skin peeling, and low blood pressure. There may also be symptoms related to the specific underlying infection such as mastitis, osteomyelitis, necrotising fasciitis, or pneumonia. TSS is typically caused by bacteria of the ''Streptococcus pyogenes'' or ''Staphylococcus aureus'' type, though others may also be involved. Streptococcal toxic shock syndrome is sometimes referred to as toxic-shock-like syndrome (TSLS). The underlying mechanism involves the production of superantigens during an invasive streptococcus infection or a localized staphylococcus infection. Risk factors for the staphylococcal type include the use of very absorbent tampons, skin lesions in young children characterized by fever, low blood pressure, rash, vomiting and/or diarrhea, and multiorgan failure. Diagnosis is typically based on symptoms. Treatment includes intravenous fluids, antibiotic ...

The IBM Time Sharing System TSS/360 is a discontinued early time-sharing In computing, time-sharing is the Concurrency (computer science), concurrent sharing of a computing resource among many tasks or users by giving each Process (computing), task or User (computing), user a small slice of CPU time, processing time. ... operating system designed exclusively for a special model of the System/360 line of mainframes, the IBM System/360 Model 67, Model 67. Made available on a trial basis to a limited set of customers in 1967, it was never officially released as a supported product by IBM. TSS pioneered a number of novel features, some of which later appeared in more popular systems such as MVS. TSS was migrated to IBM System/370, System/370 and 303x systems, but despite its many advances and novel capabilities, TSS failed to meet expectations and was eventually canceled. The Resident Supervisor of TSS/370 was used as the basis for a port of UNIX to the IBM mainframe. TSS/360 als ...

Space Tether Missions
A number of space tethers have been deployed in space missions. Tether satellites can be used for various purposes including research into tether propulsion, Gravity-gradient stabilization, tidal stabilisation and orbital plasma dynamics. The missions have met with varying degrees of success; a few have been highly successful. Description Tethered satellites are composed of three parts: the base-satellite; tether; and sub-satellite. The base-satellite contains the sub-satellite and tether until deployment. Sometimes the base-satellite is another basic satellite, other times it could be a spacecraft, space station, or the Moon. The tether is what keeps the two satellites connected. The sub-satellite is released from the base assisted by a spring ejection system, centrifugal force or gravity gradient effects. Tethers can be deployed for a range of applications, including electrodynamic propulsion, momentum exchange, artificial gravity, deployment of sensors or antennas etc. Tethe ...

Total Suspended Solids
Total suspended solids (TSS) is the dry-weight of suspended particles, that are not dissolved, in a sample of water that can be trapped by a filter that is analyzed using a filtration apparatus known as sintered glass crucible. TSS is a water quality parameter used to assess the quality of a specimen of any type of water or water body, ocean water for example, or wastewater after treatment in a wastewater treatment plant. It is listed as a conventional pollutant in the U.S. Clean Water Act. Total dissolved solids is another parameter acquired through a separate analysis which is also used to determine water quality based on the total substances that are fully dissolved within the water, rather than undissolved suspended particles. TSS is also referred to using the terms total suspended matter (TSM) and suspended particulate matter (SPM). All three terms describe the same essential measurement. TSS was previously called non-filterable residue (NFR), but was changed to TSS becau ...

TATSU Signing Server
In computing, a SHSH blob, short for Signature HaSH blob, is a digital signature that Apple generates and uses to control the iOS versions that users can install on their iOS devices generally only allowing the newest iOS version to be installable. Apple's public name for this process is ''System Software Authorization'' (before iOS 7, ''System Software Personalization''). The term “SHSH blob” is unofficial and based on abbreviations for signed hash and binary large object. An alternative term, ''ECID SHSH'', refers to the device's ECID, a unique identification number embedded in its hardware. This process is controlled by the TATSU ("TSS") Signing Server (gs.apple.com) where updates and restores can only be completed by iTunes if the version of iOS is being signed. Developers interested in iOS jailbreaking have made tools for working around this signature system in order to install jailbreakable older iOS versions that are no longer being signed by Apple. Technical details ...
