Everybody (Madonna Song)
"Everybody" is the debut single by American singer Madonna, released on October 6, 1982, under the label Sire Records. The single was featured on her debut studio album '' Madonna'' (1983). Madonna had recorded a demo of the song with Steve Bray. She urged DJ Mark Kamins, who DJed at Danceteria, to play it. He was impressed by the song and took her to Sire Records, who signed her for a two-song deal. However, after the recording of the two singles was over, Sire executive Michael Rosenblatt was not interested in the other song produced and decided to release only "Everybody". By incorporating R&B-infused beats in the music and not including her image on the cover artwork, marketing for the song gave the impression that Madonna was a black artist. That impression did not last long as Madonna would later convince Sire executives to shoot a music video for the song. The Girlie Show World Tour
The Girlie Show was the fourth concert tour by American singer and songwriter Madonna, in support of her fifth studio album, '' Erotica'' (1992). In October 1992, Madonna simultaneously released ''Erotica'' and the coffee table book ''Sex''. The former ended up being Madonna's lowest selling album at the time, while the latter received extensive media attention, and backlash from fans and critics; nonetheless, it was commercially successful. After the critical and commercial failure of the erotic thriller '' Body of Evidence'' starring Madonna, the tour was announced in July 1993. Gotham Records was an American record label formed by Sam Goode (Goody) and Ivin Ballen in New York City in 1946. In January 1948 Ballen acquired the interest of Goode and became the sole owner. He then moved the company to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where the label was based for the rest of its existence until 1956. The label specialized in rhythm and blues. Dan Gilroy (musician)
Daniel Alan Gilroy (born May 19, 1947) is an American singer and musician best known as the former lead singer of the group Breakfast Club. Following Breakfast Club, he acted in the children's programs ''Mother Goose Rock 'n' Rhyme'' and '' Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle''. Life and career Gilroy met Madonna, then an aspiring dancer, at a party in 1979. They became romantically involved and she moved into the synagogue where Gilroy lived with his brother Ed Gilroy in Corona, Queens. It also served as a studio for the brothers, who at times worked as musicians or comics under the name Bil and Gil. Breakfast Club is an American musical group. Their biggest hit single was " Right on Track", which peaked at no. 7 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart. The song was remixed for a commercial release in a 12" version for dance and club play by John "Jellybean" Benitez and became a top 10 hit on the ''Billboard'' Magazine Hot Dance Club Play chart.
