Evanescence is an American rock band founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1995 by singer and musician Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody. After recording independent EPs as a duo in the late 90's, and a demo CD, Evanescence released their debut studio album, ''Fallen'', on Wind-up Records in 2003. Propelled by the success of hit singles "Bring Me to Life" and "My Immortal", ''Fallen'' sold more than four million copies in the US by January 2004, garnering the band two Grammy Awards out of six nominations. A year later, the band released their first live album and concert DVD, ''Anywhere but Home'', which sold over one million copies worldwide. Evanescence released their second studio album, ''The Open Door'', in 2006, co-composed by Lee and guitarist Terry Balsamo. David Hodges
David Hall Hodges (born December 5, 1978) is an American songwriter and record producer from Little Rock, Arkansas. He was a studio contributor to the rock band Evanescence from 2000–2002. He has since had success co-writing and co–producing for various pop, pop rock and country artists, including Kelly Clarkson, Celine Dion, Daughtry, Backstreet Boys, Avril Lavigne, David Archuleta, Christina Aguilera, Carrie Underwood, Jessie James, 5 Seconds of Summer, and Tim McGraw. ''The Open Door'' is the second studio album by American rock band Evanescence, released on September 25, 2006, by Wind-up Records. The record symbolizes a new beginning for the band, with Amy Lee in full creative control, incorporating new elements into their previous musical styles, including classical influences and symphonic metal, as well as industrial rock, progressive rock and electronica elements and the use of choirs on several songs. The album was written in the course of 18 months, and the recording process was delayed as a result of guitarist Terry Balsamo's stroke. ''Anywhere but Home'' is the first live album and concert DVD release by American rock band Evanescence. It was released on November 23, 2004, by Wind-up Records. It includes a recording of a concert at Le Zénith in Paris, an hour of behind the scenes footage, three previous-unreleased songs, and all four of their '' Fallen'' music videos. Background ''Anywhere but Home'' was filmed during Evanescence's concert at Le Zénith in Paris on May 25, 2004. The tour supported their debut album '' Fallen'' (2003) and every song from that album except "Hello" was performed at that show. Three new songs were released on ''Anywhere but Home'': "Missing", "Breathe No More" (which was featured on the soundtrack to the 2005 film '' Elektra''), and "Farther Away". "My Immortal" is a song by American rock band Evanescence from their debut studio album, ''Fallen'' (2003). It was released by Wind-up Records on December 8, 2003, as the third single from the album. An alternative version appears on the band's fourth studio album '' Synthesis'' (2017). "Bring Me to Life" is the debut single by American rock band Evanescence from their debut studio album, ''Fallen'' (2003). Wind-up released it as the album's lead single on April 7, 2003. The song was written by Amy Lee when she was 19, after an exchange with an acquaintance during a time she was in relationship turmoil; the song is about having been desensitized and realizing all the things she had been missing in life. Guitarist Ben Moody and David Hodges also have songwriting credit on the song, which features guest vocals from Paul McCoy of the band 12 Stones. Jen Majura
Jennifer Majura Indrasen (born 16 June 1983) is a German musician. She was the rhythm guitarist for American rock band Evanescence from 2015 to 2022. Biography Majura was born in Stuttgart, West Germany, and started in music at the age of six. Her father is Thai and was one of the founding members of the Reutlingen-based German NDW band KIZ as bassist, her mother is German. Majura has played professionally since 2000. She featured on Rage's "Lord of the Flies" track and toured with the band from 2006 to 2009 on several international tours.
