European Prize For Political Culture
The European Prize for Political Culture (german: link=no, Europapreis für politische Kultur) is endowed with 50,000 euros and is awarded by the Swiss Hans Ringier Foundation in Ascona. Foundation President is Frank A. Meyer. The award ceremony has been part of the traditional "Dîner Républicain" by Frank A. Meyer in the Hotel Castello del Sole in Ascona. The "Dîner Républicain" has been taking place for over 40 years on the occasion of the Locarno International Film Festival. Heinrich August Winkler
Heinrich August Winkler (born 19 December 1938 in Königsberg) is a German historian. With his mother he joined the Flight and expulsion of Germans (1944–50), westward flight in 1944, after which he grew up in southern Germany, attending a Gymnasium in Ulm. He then studied history, political science, philosophy and public law at University of Münster, Münster, University of Heidelberg, Heidelberg and University of Tübingen, Tübingen. In 1970 he became professor at the Free University of Berlin. From 1972 to 1991 he was professor at the University of Freiburg. Since 1991 he has held a chair of modern history at the Humboldt University Berlin. He has been a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) since 1962, and has ties to numerous prominent politicians within that party, including former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder. Kaja Kallas
Kaja Kallas (; born 18 June 1977) is an Estonian politician who has been serving as the prime minister of Estonia since 2021. The leader of the Reform Party since 2018, she was a Member of Parliament from 2019 to 2021, and previously between 2011 and 2014. Kallas served as a Member of the European Parliament between 2014 and 2018, representing the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe. Prior to her election to Parliament, she was an attorney specialising in European and Estonian competition law. Early life and education Kaja Kallas was born in Tallinn on 18 June 1977. Peter Sloterdijk
Peter Sloterdijk (; ; born 26 June 1947) is a German philosopher and cultural theorist. He is a professor of philosophy and media theory at the University of Art and Design Karlsruhe. He co-hosted the German television show ''Im Glashaus: Das Philosophische Quartett'' from 2002 until 2012. Biography Sloterdijk's father was Dutch, his mother German. He studied philosophy, German studies and history at the University of Munich and the University of Hamburg from 1968 to 1974. In 1975 he received his PhD from the University of Hamburg. Zuzana Čaputová
Zuzana Čaputová, (; Strapáková; born 21 June 1973) is a Slovak politician, lawyer and environmental activist. She is the fifth president of Slovakia, a position she has held since 15 June 2019. Čaputová is the first woman to hold the presidency, as well as the youngest president in the history of Slovakia, elected at the age of 45. Čaputová first became known by prevailing in a decade-long struggle against the situating of a toxic landfill in her hometown of Pezinok. For this, Čaputová was awarded the 2016 Goldman Environmental Prize. She won the 2019 Slovak presidential election with 58% of the vote in the run-off. Christopher Clark
Sir Christopher Munro Clark (born 14 March 1960) is an Australian historian living in the United Kingdom and Germany. He is the twenty-second Regius Professor of History at the University of Cambridge. In 2015, he was knighted for his services to Anglo-German relations. Education and academic positions Clark was educated at Sydney Grammar School from 1972 to 1978, the University of Sydney (where he studied history) and the Freie Universität Berlin from 1985 to 1987. Clark received his PhD at the University of Cambridge, having been a member of Pembroke College from 1987 to 1991. ''Blick'' is a Swiss German-language daily newspaper, and online news website covering current affairs, entertainment, sports and lifestyle. History and profile ''Blick'' was established in 1959. Frank-Walter Steinmeier (; born 5 January 1956) is a German politician serving as President of Germany since 19 March 2017. He was previously Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2005 to 2009 and again from 2013 to 2017, as well as Vice Chancellor of Germany from 2007 to 2009. ''Cicero'' is a monthly German magazine focusing on politics and culture. The magazine, which has a liberal-conservative political stance, is based in Berlin. It is similar to ''The Atlantic'' and ''The New Yorker'' in terms of its coverage. History and contributors ''Cicero'' was launched in Potsdam in March 2004. The magazine was later moved to Berlin. Mario Draghi (; born 3 September 1947) is an Italian economist, academic, banker and civil servant who served as prime minister of Italy from February 2021 to October 2022. Prior to his appointment as prime minister, he served as President of the European Central Bank (ECB) between 2011 and 2019. Draghi was also Chair of the Financial Stability Board between 2009 and 2011, and Governor of the Bank of Italy between 2006 and 2011.
