Estonian Academy Of Music And Theatre
The Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (''Eesti Muusika- ja Teatriakadeemia'') began as a mixed choir of the Estonia Society Musical Department (EMD) on the eve of World War I. The assembly of the Estonia Society created the Tallinn Higher Music School on November 17, 1918. The opening ceremony took place on September 28, 1919. In 1923 the educational institution was renamed the Tallinn Conservatoire. In 1938 the State Drama School was opened. In 1993 the school was renamed the “Estonian Academy of Music”. In 1995 the Drama Faculty was renamed the Higher Theatre School. Tallinn
Tallinn () is the most populous and capital city of Estonia. Situated on a bay in north Estonia, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland of the Baltic Sea, Tallinn has a population of 437,811 (as of 2022) and administratively lies in the Harju '' maakond'' (county). Tõnu Aav
Tõnu Aav (21 January 1939 – 14 August 2019) was an Estonian stage, film, TV, and radio actor. Aav was born in Tallinn and graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in 1961. From 1961 he performed at the Estonian Drama Theatre in Tallinn. He played in dozens of films and twenty screenplays and also recorded a number of radio play and audio CDs (including ''Uncle Remus'' stories and '' Alice in Wonderland'') as well as a recurring role as Feliks Viss on the ETV dramatic series ''Õnne 13''. Peeter Saan
Lieutenant-Colonel Peeter Saan (born 16 April 1959) is an Estonian conductor and reserve officer of the Estonian Defence Forces. He is also a clarinet and saxophone player, as well as an arranger. Biography Peeter Saan was born in Võru on 16 April 1959. He started studying music at the Võru Children's Music School, majoring in accordion, later clarinet and saxophone. He graduated from the clarinet-saxophone class of the Georg Ots Tallinn Music College in 1983. and in the clarinet class of the Tallinn Conservatoire in 1988. In 2002, he graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre with a master's degree in wind orchestra conducting. He has researched Estonian military and ceremonial music, and in 2006 he defended his PhD thesis was entitled as "Estonian state music and military orchestras: formation and development in 1918−1940". Gustav Ernesaks
Gustav Ernesaks (12 December 1908 – 24 January 1993) was an Estonian composer and a choir conducting, conductor. Biography Ernesaks was born in Perila, Peningi Parish. He played an integral role in the Singing Revolution and was one of the father figures of the Estonian Song Festival tradition. One of his songs, a setting of Lydia Koidula's poem ''Mu isamaa on minu arm'', became an unofficial national anthem during the years of Estonian SSR. His performance of the song at the XVII Estonian Song Festival was one of the inspirations for Dmitri Shostakovich's 1970 a capella choral cycle, ''Loyalty (Shostakovich), Loyalty''. He dedicated the score to Ernesaks, who also premiered it in Tallinn. He also composed the Anthem of Estonian SSR, Estonian SSR anthem used between 1945 and 1990. Evald Aav ( – 21 March 1939) was an Estonian composer born in Tallinn, Governorate of Estonia, Russian Empire. He studied music composition there with Artur Kapp and wrote primarily vocal music to words in the Estonian language. Estonian Business School (EBS) is a private, higher-education university situated in Tallinn, Estonia. EBS offers business-related higher education in bachelor-, master- and doctoral levels. Taavi Eelmaa (born 15 June 1971) is an Estonian stage and film actor. Biography Career Born and raised in Tallinn, he is the son of actor Aleksander Eelmaa and Reet Eelmaa. Taavi Eelmaa began studies at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, graduating in 1996. Jan Uuspõld (born 14 December 1973) is an Estonian stage, television, radio and film actor and musician. Early life and music career Jan Uuspõld was born in Tallinn, the eldest of three sons of Ingar and Heidi Uuspõld. His mother is an accountant and his father was a long-distance truck driver. He was raised mostly in Hiiu, Nõmme and attended schools in Keila and Tallinn. In middle school was enrolled in music class and sang in a school choir.
