Estonia In The Eurovision Song Contest 1999
Estonia entered the Eurovision Song Contest 1999, held in Jerusalem. This was their fifth entry at Eurovision, having debuted at the 1994 contest. The Estonian representative for the contest was Evelin Samuel and Camille with the song "Diamond of Night". It was the first contest with non-Estonian songs in the national final and the first time a non-Estonian song was picked to represent Estonia. Before Eurovision Eurolaul 1999 The final was held on 30 January 1999 at the ETV Studios in Tallinn. It was hosted by Romi Erlach and Marko Reikop. The format of the final was the same as in previous years, with a 10-member "expert" international jury awarding points to their favourite songs from the 10 in the final. Evelin Samuel
Evelin Samuel (born 13 May 1975) is an Estonian singer, songwriter, musical theater performer, author of children's books and participant in the Eurovision Song Contest. Career Evelin Samuel has been singing since childhood and was even recorded by the studios of the Estonian Radio at a very early age. In the late 1980s, Evelin joined the children's musical theatre Colombina whom she performed with at the 1992 Roskilde Festival in Denmark. In 1993, she finished 4th at ''Kaks takti ette'', a contest for debutant singers, organized by Estonian Television. The same year, she won the Baltic song contest ''Via Baltica'' and a year later she won again with "''Vari ja roos''" at Uus Laul, a song contest organized by the Estonian Television. The Eurovision Song Contest 1991 was the 36th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Rome, Italy, following the country's victory at the with the song " Insieme: 1992" by Toto Cutugno and was organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Radiotelevisione Italiana (RAI). The contest was held at Studio 15 di Cinecittà on 4 May 1991 and was hosted by former Italian winners Gigliola Cinquetti and Toto Cutugno. Twenty-two countries took part in the contest with participating for the first time since , and the deciding not to participate. Rein Rannap (born 6 October 1953 in Tallinn) is an Estonian composer and pianist. Since 1968, Rannap has given numerous public piano performances. Rannap has been active in management and composition for Ruja, Noor-Eesti and Hõim. Pianist career Rannap gave his first solo concert in 1968. Hannah Ild (' Pruuli; born 12 May 1981), known professionally as Hannah, is an Estonian songwriter, singer, and pianist of ballads and classic pop. Early life and education Ild's interest in music began at an early age. She began singing even before she could speak. When she was three years old, she joined the Children Music Studio. From there she went on to join the Estonian Radio Singing Studio. When she was seven, Hannah Ild joined the elite Estonian Television Music Choir.
