England Under-19 Cricket Team
The England Under-19 cricket team have been playing official Under-19 Test matches since 1974. Prior to 1991/92 they were known as England Young Cricketers. Former captains include Mike Atherton, Michael Vaughan, Alastair Cook and Andrew Flintoff, who have all gone on to captain the senior national team in Test matches. Recent call-ups This lists all the players who have been selected for England under-19s since the start of the 2021 season and their most recent call-up. Jacob Bethell
Jacob Graham Bethell (born 23 October 2003) is a Barbadian born cricketer who plays for the England under 19s cricket team. Bethell was born in Barbados and moved to Warwickshire, England, when he was 12. He made his Twenty20 debut on 20 June 2021, for Warwickshire in the 2021 T20 Blast. Early life and career Bethell was born and raised in Barbados. He attended Harrison College, whose alumni include Sir Clyde Walcott, and was awarded player of the tournament in the West Indies Under-15 competition in 2017. Such performances earned him a scholarship at Rugby School, where he was coached by their director of cricket and former Warwickshire captain Mike Powell. He played cricket with Warwickshire from a young age, and Bethell signed a three-year professional contract with Warwickshire in January 2021. Left-arm Orthodox Spin
Left-arm orthodox spin, Left-arm off spin also known as slow left-arm orthodox spin bowling, is a type of left-arm finger spin bowling in the sport of cricket. Left-arm orthodox spin is bowled by a left-arm bowler using the fingers to spin the ball from right to left of the cricket pitch (from the bowler's perspective). Left-arm orthodox spin bowlers generally attempt to drift the ball in the air into a right-handed batsman, and then turn it away from the batsman (towards off-stump) upon landing on the pitch. Durham County Cricket Club (rebranded as Durham Cricket in February 2019) is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Durham. Glamorgan County Cricket Club ( cy, Criced Morgannwg) is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Glamorgan ( cy, Morgannwg). Founded in 1888, Glamorgan held minor status at first and was a prominent member of the early Minor Counties Championship before the First World War. In 1921, the club joined the County Championship and the team was elevated to first-class status, subsequently playing in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England and Wales. Leg Break
Leg spin is a type of spin bowling in cricket. A leg spinner bowls right-arm with a wrist spin action. The leg spinner's normal delivery causes the ball to spin from right to left (from the bowler's perspective) when the ball bounces on the pitch. For a right-handed batsman, that is away from the leg side, and this is where it gets the name leg break. Leg spinners bowl mostly leg breaks, varying them by adjusting the line and length, and amount of side spin versus topspin of the deliveries. Leg spinners also typically use variations of flight by sometimes looping the ball in the air, allowing any cross-breeze and the aerodynamic effects of the spinning ball to cause the ball to dip and drift before bouncing and spinning or "turning", sharply.
