Electoral District Of Algester
The electoral district of Algester is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in south-west Brisbane. It includes the suburbs of Algester, Parkinson, Hillcrest, Boronia Heights, Forestdale, Larapinta, Heathwood, Forest Lake, Doolandella and Pallara, as well as the Greenbank Military Range. It borders the electoral districts of Sunnybank, Stretton, Logan, Lockyer, Bundamba and Inala. The Algester electoral district was created at the 1999 redistribution from the former electoral district of Archerfield, and was contested for the first time at the 2001 election. It had been a safe seat for the Labor Party since its inception, as had Archerfield, but it was won by Anthony Shorten of the Liberal National Party at the 2012 election. Leeanne Enoch
Leeanne Margaret Enoch is an Australian politician currently serving as the Minister for Communities and Housing and Minister for the Arts and Digital Economy of Queensland. She has also served as the Labor Party member for Algester in the Queensland Legislative Assembly since 2015. Early life and education Enoch was born the oldest of four, and became the first member of her family to graduate from university. She is the sister of playwright Wesley Enoch, who is the eldest of three brothers. 2001 Queensland State Election
An election was held in the Australian state of Queensland on 17 February 2001 to elect the 89 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. The result of the election was the return of the Labor Party (ALP) government of Premier Peter Beattie, with an increased majority. Labor won 66 seats, easily the most it has ever won in Queensland and one of Labor's best-ever results nationwide. There was a 10.07% swing towards Labor, while One Nation suffered a 13.98% swing against it, losing eight seats (five of which were held by the newly formed City Country Alliance after an internal split in December 1999). The longstanding coalition between the Nationals and Liberals, led by Nationals leader (and former premier) Rob Borbidge recorded only a 2.39% swing against it. Electoral District Of Bundamba
Bundamba is a Legislative Assembly of Queensland electoral division in the state of Queensland, Australia. The electorate encompasses suburbs in the east and south-east of the City of Ipswich local government area. Major locations include Bundamba, Blackstone, Goodna, Redbank Plains, Augustine Heights and Springfield. Bundamba was also the name of a previous electorate that existed between 1873 and 1912. The seat has been held by the Labor Party since it was recreated in 1992, and for much of that time has been a reasonably safe Labor seat. In the 2006 state election, Labor's Jo-Ann Miller won the seat with 68.5% of the vote. The Greenbank Military Range is a 4,500ha live training facility for the Australian Defence Force located in Greenbank, Logan City, Queensland, Australia, approximately south-west of Brisbane.
