Edward Jayakody
Jayakody Arachchige Don Edward Timothy Jayakody ( Sinhala:එඩ්වඩ් ජයකොඩි: born 6 April 1952), popularly as Edward Jayakody, is a Sri Lankan musician, singer and composer. Jayakody has directed the music for hundreds of Sinhala films and television serials and has also composed many songs for children's programming ("Koppara Koppara"). Jayakody won the Swarna Sanka Award in 1987 for Best Male Singer for the film ''Gedara Budun Amma''. He won Best Music Director in 1979 and 1980 for the plays ''Nidane'' and ''Aparadaya Saha Danduwama''. Personal life Jayakody was born on 6 April 1952 as the youngest child with six siblings of Don Raphial Jayakody and Victoria Jayakody in Hettimulla, Kegalle, Sri Lanka. Kegalle ( si, කෑගල්ල; ta, கேகாலை) is a large town in Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka. It is located on the Colombo–Kandy road, approximately from Colombo and from Kandy. It is the main town in the Kegalle District, which is one of two districts which comprise Sabaragamuwa Province. The town is governed by an Urban Council. Kegalle has an agricultural based economy and mainly produces rubber. The surrounding area produces graphite, precious stones and agricultural products such as rice. DR. Rohana Weerasinghe (born February 18, 1949), is a Sri Lankan musician, composer and singer. Early life Weerasinghe was born on 18 February 1949 in Algiriya, Matara in southern Sri Lanka. He was the youngest child to his parents Henry Weerasinghe and Sepalin Weerasinghe. In 1954, Weerasinghe started schooling from Good Shepard Family Convent in Nuwara Eliya, and later moved to Vidyachakra Buddhist School Ruwan Eliya, Welimada Maha Vidyalaya, Pannipitya Dharmapala Vidyalaya and Gamini Maha Vidyalaya Nuwara Eliya. In 1977, Weerasinghe married to Leela Beatrice De Silva, a dancing teacher in profession. They had two sons, Kalindu Gajaba and Chirath Kanishka. Visharadha Charitha Priyadarshani Peiris ( si, චරිතා ප්රියදර්ශනී පීරිස්: born 19 October 1967), is a Sri Lankan songstress, playback singer and announcer. Personal life Priyadarshani was born on 19 October 1967 in Mirihana, Nugegoda. She has one older sister, Malika. Her father, Ariyadasa Peiris, was a popular radio artist and filmmaker.
