Ecologist Green Party Of Nicaragua
The Ecologist Green Party of Nicaragua (in Spanish: ''Partido Verde Ecologista de Nicaragua'', PVEN) is a political party in Nicaragua. It was founded in Managua on November 23, 2003. The president of the organisation is Edward Martín Salazar Cruz. Since 2003, the PVEN is a full member of the Federation of the Green Parties of the Americas (Federación de los Partidos Verdes de las Américas). On May 9, 2006, the PVEN signed an alliance with the Sandinista Renovation Movement and became part of the ''Alianza Herty 2006'', running in the MRS ticket in the 2006 Nicaraguan general election General elections were held in Nicaragua on 5 November 2006. Green politics, or ecopolitics, is a political ideology that aims to foster an ecologically sustainable society often, but not always, rooted in environmentalism, nonviolence, social justice and grassroots democracy. It consists of various national Green political parties, partner networks, and other organizations associated with green politics. Sandinista Renovation Movement
The Sandinista Renovation Movement (''Movimiento Renovador Sandinista'' or MRS, in Spanish) is a Nicaraguan political party founded on 21 May 1995. It defines itself as a democratic and progressive party, made of women and men, which promotes the construction of a Nicaragua with opportunities, progress, solidarity, democracy and sovereignty. Among its founders were prominent militants of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) who separated from the political party because of disagreements with the leadership under Daniel Ortega. General elections were held in Nicaragua on 5 November 2006. The country's voters went to the polls to elect a new President of the Republic and 90 members of the National Assembly. Daniel Ortega (FSLN) won the election with 37.99% of the vote, Eduardo Montealegre (ALN) trailing with 28.30%, José Rizo (PLC) with 27.1%, Edmundo Jarquín (MRS) with 6.29%, and Edén Pastora (AC) with just 0.29%.
