HMS ''Example'' is an patrol and training vessel of the Royal Navy, based at in Gateshead, England. ''Example'' was originally built for the Royal Naval Auxiliary Service, and was transferred to the Royal Navy when the RNXS disbanded in 1994. On transfer, she retained her name, and became the first ship in the Royal Navy to bear that name. HMS ''Example'' is currently part of the Coastal Forces Squadron, formerly 1st Patrol Boat Squadron. The mission statement of the CFS is to "provide support to allow the conduct of safe and effective P2000 operations in support of the URNU sea-training syllabus"; URNU is acronym for University Royal Naval Unit. ''The Example'' is a graphic novel from Gestalt Publishing written by Tom Taylor and illustrated by Colin Wilson based on the award-winning play of the same name by Tom Taylor. "The Example, a story about a man, a woman and their reactions to an abandoned briefcase on a railway platform, was first performed at Melbourne's Short and Sweet play competition in 2005, where it won first prize. Elliot John Gleave, better known by his stage name Example, is an English musician, singer, songwriter and record producer. He released his debut studio album, '' What We Made'', in 2007, followed by the mixtape '' What We Almost Made'' in 2008. ''Example'' is the second studio album released by For Squirrels. It was produced by Nick Launay. It was For Squirrels' only major label record, as lead singer John Vigliatura and bassist Bill White died when the band's van blew a tire and crashed less than a month before ''Examples release. Despite the death of half the band, the two surviving members chose to release the album as scheduled. The band released "Mighty K.C." as the only single from the album. The song peaked at #15 on the ''Billboard'' Modern Rock Tracks chart on the chart dated January 26, 1996. The album did not gain mainstream popularity, reaching only No. 171 on the ''Billboard'' 200. An exemplum (Latin for "example", exempla, ''exempli gratia'' = "for example", abbr.: ''e.g.'') is a moral anecdote, brief or extended, real or fictitious, used to illustrate a point. The word is also used to express an action performed by another and used as an example or model.
