Evie (song)
"Evie" is a rock song performed by Australian singer and former frontman of the Easybeats, Stevie Wright. It was written by Harry Vanda and George Young and released as a single in 1974. It has been suggested that it is the first 11-minute song to chart at #1 anywhere in the world. According to author Mark Juddery, the song was "the longest Australian single ever to make the charts." The song features three parts—Part 1, "Let your hair hang down"; Part 2, "Evie"; and Part 3, "I'm losing you"—and some critics consider it as one of the most perfect rock n' roll songs ever. Part One (when they meet) is a guitar driven, hard rocking and bluesy, swaggering and swayful song. Part Two (the marriage) is more piano and string based, a much softer emotional ballad style. Part Three (the death of Evie in childbirth) is more of a disco-rock style, being quicker, relatively urgent and guitar driven track with a strong vocal. Stevie Wright
Stephen Carlton Wright (20 December 1947 – 27 December 2015) was an Australian singer, songwriter, and musician. Called Australia's first international pop star, he is best known for being the lead singer of the Easybeats, who are widely regarded as the greatest Australian pop band of the 1960s. Born in Leeds, Wright migrated with his family to Australia at the age of nine, living in Melbourne and later Sydney at the Villawood Migrant Hostel, where he met his future bandmates and formed the Easybeats. Their early hits were co-written by Wright with bandmate George Young, including top ten hits such as "She's So Fine", "Wedding Ring", "Sorry" and "Women (Make You Feel Alright)". He was lead vocalist on their only international hit, " Friday on My Mind", which peaked at number one in Australia in 1966, the top ten in the United Kingdom, and the top twenty in the United States and Canada. Hammond Organ
The Hammond organ is an electric organ invented by Laurens Hammond and John M. Hanert, first manufactured in 1935. Multiple models have been produced, most of which use sliding #Drawbars, drawbars to vary sounds. ''If You Knew Suzi...'' is the fifth studio album by American singer Suzi Quatro, released at the end of 1978, but with a 1979 copyright date. this was still Quatro's highest-charting album in the United States (it peaked at number 37 on the ''Billboard'' 200). Susan Kay Quatro (born June 3, 1950) is an American singer, bass guitarist, songwriter, and actress. The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) is a trade association representing the Australian recording industry which was established in the 1970s by six major record companies, EMI, Festival Records (Australia), Festival, Sony Music, CBS, Bertelsmann Music Group, RCA, Warner Music Group, WEA and PolyGram, Universal replacing the Association of Australian Record Manufacturers (AARM) which was formed in 1956. A supergroup is a musical group formed of members who are already successful as solo artists or as members of other successful groups. The term became popular in the late 1960s when members of already successful rock groups Collaborative_album, recorded albums together, after which they normally disbanded. Flashpoint Music was an independent production house and record label based in Sydney, Australia that specialised in original indie rock and pop music productions. Flashpoint Records and Flashpoint Music Publishing were associated companies. History After a 27-year tenure with the iconic independent record label Albert Productions, legendary Australian songwriter and producer Harry Vanda partnered with his son, Daniel Vandenberg, to establish a recording studio in Surry Hills, Sydney. One of the first projects brought to them was by Nic Cester of Jet who had formed the Australian supergroup The Wrights in 2004.
