Ellie Aldridge
Eleanor Aldridge MBE (born 29 December 1996) is a British sailor from Dorset who competes in women's kite foiling. She won the 2023 Formula Kite European Championships and took the silver that year in the World Championships. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Aldridge won a gold medal in the women's Formula Kite event. Early life Aldridge was born on 29 December 1996 in Poole, Dorset. She was first introduced to sailing when she was seven years old and joined the Parkstone Yacht Club where she experimented with sailing dinghies. Career In 2021 she beat French windfoiler Lauriane Nolot into third place at the Formula Kite World Championships in Torregrande in Sardinia. It was won by American Daniela Moroz with Aldridge in second. In 2022 she took the silver medal in the KiteFoil World Series Traunsee in Austria. Poema Newland
Poema Newland (born 4 May 2000) is a French sailor and kitefoiler. She was the European Formula Kite champion in 2021. Life Newland was born in Narbonne in 2000. She started kiting quite late in high school but quickly became Mediterranean champion in 2016 in the freestyle1 category before specializing in kite foil. Newland competed in the 2018 Youth Olympics where kitesurfing was a new Olympic sport. She won a silver medal. This made her one of the first female Olympic medalists in kitesurfing along with Nina Font, also winning silver, and Sofia Tomasoni, who won gold. She joined the Institut d'études politiques de Paris via the high-level sports course which could be followed on-line. During the 2021 Festikite at Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone, she won the title of European Formula Kite champion on 12 Speptember.
