Edgar Alaffita
Édgar Jahir Alaffita García (born 18 October 1996) is a Mexican professional footballer who plays as a defender for Liga MX club UNAM. Club career Alaffita was discovered by Miguel Fuentes, who was San Luis's coach at the time, while playing for San Luis in various youth competitions. He signed his first professional contract in June 2013 and made his first team league debut on 30 August 2013, coming on as a 66' substitute for Néstor Olguín in a 2–1 win against Estudiantes Tecos. Alaffita was loaned out to Club Necaxa in June 2014. Alaffita joined Pumas Tabasco in May 2021. He became a consistent starter and rose to be club captain. Alaffita began training with the first team, Pumas UNAM, in late 2022. He was ultimately included on the team roster by manager Rafael Puente Jr. On 8 January 2023, Alaffita made his Liga MX debut with UNAM as a member of the starting lineup in their 2–1 win over Juárez. Poza Rica
Poza Rica (), formally: Poza Rica de Hidalgo is a city and its surrounding municipality in the Mexican state of Veracruz. Its name means "rich well/pond". It is often thought that the name came to be because it was a place known for its abundance of oil. In reality, before oil was discovered, there existed a pond rich in fish, which gave origin to the city’s name. In the 20th century oil was discovered in the area. It has since been almost completely extracted. This has resulted in the decline of oil well exploration and drilling activities, though there are still many oil facilities. 2019–20 Ascenso MX Season
The 2019–20 Ascenso MX season was a two-part competition: Apertura 2019 and Clausura 2020, which were the final two seasons of Ascenso MX, the second-tier football league of Mexico. Apertura began on 1 August 2019. On April 17, Liga MX President Enrique Bonilla announced the termination of the remainder of the Clausura 2020 tournament. Two reasons were the COVID-19 pandemic and the league's lack of financial resources. On 22 May 2020 the Clausura season was cancelled and no champion will be crowned. With this announcement there would be no promotion or regulation for six seasons. Changes from the previous season All teams are able to be promoted to Liga MX 2020–2021 season. The relegated team of the Clausura 2020 Liga MX season will remain in Liga MX if it pays MXN$120 million to remain the 20th team of the league.
