Drexel is a city in northwest Bates and southwest Cass counties in the U.S. state of Missouri. The population was 968 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. History Drexel was originally called Stuart City, and under the latter name was platted in 1890. The present name of Drexel was the name of a local store owner. A post office called Drexel has been in operation since 1891. In June 2010, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources warned of a spike of 31.2 parts herbicide atrazine per billion in Drexel's public water supply. Disappearance Of Brittanee Drexel
On the night of April 25, 2009, 17-year-old Brittanee Drexel of Chili, New York, United States, left a hotel in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where she had been staying with friends over spring break. Drexel walked to another hotel a short distance away, and from there, texted her boyfriend to say that she was heading back to her motel. She was never known to have been seen alive again and was soon reported as missing. Police investigated her disappearance, but no developments were made public until 2016, when it was announced that a prison inmate had told them that Drexel had been abducted and killed. The man accused by the informant denied knowledge of any alleged crime. Based on that information, the FBI considered the case a homicide. Heritage Home Group LLC, formed to purchase most assets of the defunct Furniture Brands International, was a High Point, North Carolina-based home furnishings company. The Drexel Dragons are the athletic teams of Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Drexel Collection is a collection of over 6,000 volumes of books about music and musical scores owned by the Music Division of The New York Public Library. Donated by Joseph W. Drexel in 1888 to the Lenox Library (which later became The New York Public Library), the collection, located today at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, is rich with materials on music theory and music history as well as other musical subjects. Drexel 4041 is a 17th-century British music manuscript commonplace book. As described by musicologist John P. Cutts, Drexel 4041 "is a treasure-house of early seventeenth-century song and dramatic lyric worthy of the attention of any student of seventeenth-century literature and drama." It is also a major source for the work of English composer William Lawes. Belonging to the New York Public Library, it forms part of the Drexel Collection, housed in the Music Division of the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Following traditional library practice, its name is derived from its call number. Dating Drexel 4041 dates from between 1640 and 1650.
