"Doctor! Doctor!" is a song performed by the British new wave band Thompson Twins. It is the second single from the band's fourth studio album, ''Into the Gap'' (1984). It was written by Tom Bailey, Alannah Currie and Joe Leeway, and prominently features a keyboard solo. Following the successful chart performances of the ''Into the Gap'' single " Hold Me Now", "Doctor! Doctor!" was released in the UK on 27 January 1984 as the album's second single. Background and recording In 1983, after the commercial success of their third album '' Quick Step and Side Kick'', the Thompson Twins collaborated again with producer Alex Sadkin to record ''Into the Gap'' at Compass Point Studios in the Bahamas. Bailey and Sadkin co-produced the album's tracks, including "Doctor! Doctor!". Release The single peaked at #3 in the United Kingdom and #11 in the United States in July 1984. Thompson Twins
Thompson Twins were a British Pop music, pop band formed in 1977 in Sheffield. Initially a New wave music, new wave group, they switched to a more mainstream pop sound and achieved considerable popularity during the mid-1980s, scoring a string of hits in the United Kingdom, the United States, and around the world. In 1993, they changed their name to Babble (band), Babble, to reflect their change in music from pop to Dub music, dub-influenced Chill-out music, chill-out. They continued as Babble until 1996, at which point the group permanently broke up. The band's name was based on the two bumbling detectives Thomson and Thompson (who are close doubles not twins) in the English language version of Hergé's comic strip ''The Adventures of Tintin''. History SABC's decision in December 1945 to develop a commercial service was constrained by post-war financial issues. The CHUM Chart was a ranking of top 30 (and, until August 1968, the top 50) songs on Toronto, Ontario radio station CHUM AM, from 1957 to 1986, and was the longest-running Top 40 chart in the world produced by an individual radio station. On January 10, 1998, sister station CHUM-FM, which airs a hot adult contemporary format, revived the CHUM Chart name for a new countdown show. The CHUM Chart also aired as a television program on Citytv every Saturday at 2:00 P.M. until January 2008, when the show was discontinued after Rogers Communications gained control of the Citytv stations and replaced it with the ''JackNation'' chart, a show based on their Jack FM radio brand. The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music enthusiast David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. The game is based on the Thompson Twins' Single (music), single "Doctor! Doctor!", and features the Thompson Twins band members as the protagonists. Dieter Trattmann (b. Switzerland) is a director/editor and producer who resides in California. Life and career Dieter Trattmann was born and raised in Switzerland. In the late 1970s, he became fascinated with music and film and moved to London where he attended the London Film School. In 1983, he went to work for MGMM Productions in London, beginning his career in film by directing a commercial for MTV.
