Divertimento For String Trio (Mozart)
The Divertimento in E major, Köchel catalogue, K. 563, is a string trio, written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1788 in music, 1788, the year in which he completed his List of symphonies by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, last three symphonies (nos. 39–41) and his Piano Concerto No. 26 (Mozart), "Coronation" Piano Concerto. It is his last divertimento and different from List of compositions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart#Divertimenti, his other divertimenti not only in its instrumentation but also in its compositorial ambition and scope. The work was completed in Vienna on September 27, 1788, and is dedicated to Michael Puchberg, a fellow Mozart and Freemasonry, Freemason, who lent money to Mozart. The premiere was in Dresden on April 13, 1789, with Anton Teyber taking the violin part, Mozart playing viola and Antonín Kraft playing cello. The Köchel catalogue (german: Köchel-Verzeichnis, links=no) is a chronological catalogue of compositions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, originally created by Ludwig Ritter von Köchel, in which the entries are abbreviated ''K.'', or ''KV''. The numbers of the Köchel catalogue reflect the continuing establishment of a complete chronology of Mozart's works, and provide a shorthand reference to the compositions. E-flat major (or the key of E-flat) is a major scale based on E, consisting of the pitches E, F, G, A, B, C, and D. Its key signature has three flats. Its relative minor is C minor, and its parallel minor is E minor, (or enharmonically D minor). Arthur Mendel (June 6, 1905 – October 14, 1979) was an American musicologist, known as a Bach scholar. He was born in Boston and died in Newark, New Jersey. Sonata rondo form is a musical form often used during the Classical music era. As the name implies, it is a blend of sonata and rondo forms. Structure Sonata and rondo forms Rondo form involves the repeated use of a theme (sometimes called the "refrain") set in the tonic key, alternating with episodes, resulting in forms such as ABACA (the five-part rondo) or ABACADA (the seven-part rondo).
