Richard Wagstaff Clark (November 30, 1929April 18, 2012) was an American radio and television personality, television producer and film actor, as well as a cultural icon who remains best known for hosting '' American Bandstand'' from 1956 to 1989. He also hosted five incarnations of the ''Pyramid'' game show from 1973 to 1988 and ''Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve'', which transmitted New Year's Eve celebrations in New York City's Times Square. As host of '' American Bandstand'', Clark introduced rock & roll to many Americans. The show gave many new music artists their first exposure to national audiences, including Ike & Tina Turner, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Stevie Wonder, Simon & Garfunkel, Iggy Pop, Prince, Talking Heads, and Madonna. Richard Clarence Clark (born September 14, 1928) is an American politician who represented the state of Iowa in the United States Senate from 1973 to 1979. Early life Richard Clarence Clark was born on September 14, 1928, in Paris, Iowa. He graduated from Lamont High School in 1947 and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in Europe during the Korean War. Clark was educated at the University of Maryland, Wiesbaden and the University of Frankfurt from 1950 to 1952 during his military service. He completed his BA in 1953 at Upper Iowa University and his Masters in 1956 at the University of Iowa. He then became a professor at Upper Iowa University and a Democratic Party volunteer, working to collect names, addresses and phone numbers of party members with the goal of contacting them on election day to get them to the polls. Richard Wayne "Dick" Clark (May 9, 1933 – October 5, 2019) was an American politician in the state of Florida. Clark was born in San Antonio, Texas. He moved to Florida at the age of four and later attended Loyola University, where he was a member of Upsilon Beta Lambda. He served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1968 to 1976 as a Democrat. He also served as Majority Leader of the Florida House of Representatives towards the end of his term. The firm, founded in 1979 by Dick Clark III (1944-2017), designs contemporary architecture.
