Richard Ernest Brown (January 17, 1935 – April 17, 1970) was an American professional baseball catcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers and Baltimore Orioles. The native of Shinnston, West Virginia, attended Florida State University. He threw and batted right-handed and was listed as tall and . His brother Larry Brown had a 12-year MLB career (1963–74) as an infielder with four American League teams. Originally signed by the Indians in 1953, Dick Brown made his big league debut on June 20, 1957 against the Boston Red Sox at the age of 22. After three seasons with the Indians, he was traded to the Chicago White Sox on December 6, 1959, along with Don Ferrarese, Minnie Miñoso and Jake Striker for Norm Cash, Bubba Phillips and Johnny Romano. Dick Brown is an American curler. Brown was the skip on a team out of Hibbing Curling Club in Hibbing, Minnesota which won the US National Championship two times, in 1959 and 1962. The team was mostly family, including Brown's father-in-law Fran Kleffman at second and brother-in-law Terry Kleffman at third. The only non-family member was Nick Jerulle at lead. Richard Kidston Brown (1887 – 22 January 1971) was a Blacksmith and member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Early days Brown was born at Dumbarton, Scotland, to John Brown, and his wife Janet (née Kidston). Arriving with his family in 1889, he attended South Brisbane State School before commencing work in the family business as a blacksmith at Coorparoo. In 1922 he gained employment as an insurance inspector. As a youth, Brown joined the Thompson Estate Harriers Athletic Club, an association that was to last 71 years including 33 years as its president.
