Dennis Baxley
Dennis K. Baxley (born August 22, 1952) is a state legislator in Florida who has served in the Florida Senate since 2016. A Republican, he represents the 12th district including Sumter County and parts of Lake County and Marion County in Central Florida. He previously served in the Florida House of Representatives, representing parts of Marion County from 2000 to 2007 and again from 2010 until his election to the Senate. He served on the Belleview City Commission and as its mayor. Baxley has sponsored anti-LGBT legislation, stand your ground legislation, opposed a two-year moratorium on the sale of AR-15s, delayed the Florida Slavery Memorial, and opposes the removal of Confederate monuments and memorials. Florida Senate
The Florida Senate is the upper house of the Florida Legislature, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Florida, the Florida House of Representatives being the lower house. Article III, Section 1 of the Constitution of Florida, adopted in 1968, defines the role of the Legislature and how it is to be constituted. The Senate is composed of 40 members, each elected from a single-member district with a population of approximately 540,000 residents. Legislative districts are drawn on the basis of population figures, provided by the federal decennial census. Senators' terms begin immediately upon their election. Belleview, Florida
Belleview is a city in Marion County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,413 at the 2020 census, up from 4,492 in 2010. It is part of the Ocala Metropolitan Statistical Area. Nancy Argenziano
Nancy Argenziano (born January 1, 1955) is a former state legislator in Florida and served as chairman of the Florida Public Service Commission. She was the Reform Party of Florida's candidate for lieutenant governor in 2018. Personal life Argenziano was born in Brooklyn, New York, and moved to Florida in 1971. She has one son. Political career Argenziano was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1996 and served there until her election to the Florida Senate in 2002. In 2007, Florida governor Charlie Crist appointed her to the state's Public Service Commission. The paper is published by Lynni Henderson, the paper's Executive Editor is Douglas Ray and the editorial page editor is Nathan Crabbe. History The paper was founded in July 1876 as the ''Gainesville Times'', by brothers E. M. and William Wade Hampton, and was renamed as ''The Gainesville Sun'' in February 1879.
