D III 88
''D III 88'' (sometimes written as ''DIII 88'') is a 1939 German drama film directed by Herbert Maisch and Hans Bertram and starring Christian Kayßler, Otto Wernicke and Heinz Welzel. It was made as a propaganda film with the support of Luftwaffe chief Hermann Göring, and was the last of a series of Nazi aviation films to be made before the outbreak of World War II. It was one of the most commercially successful films released during the Nazi era. It was praised by Joseph Goebbels as "an irreproachable film of national destiny". Paul Otto Schlesinger (8 February 1878 – 25 or 30 November 1943) was a German film actor and director. Born in Berlin, he began a qualification as a retail merchant and made his actor's debut at the age of 17. Otto worked at Theaters in Halle, Wiesbaden and Hanover before he returned to Berlin about 1906. He first appeared in the silent film ''Ringkampf Konkurrenz'' in 1910 and in ''Arsène Lupin contra Sherlock Holmes'' (1910-11, five episode film serial) next to Viggo Larsen. In 1912 Otto directed his first own film ''Selbstgerichtet''. In the beginning of the 1930s he also appeared in successful Sound movies like '' Der Hauptmann von Köpenick''. Karl Martell (actor)
Karl Hermann Martell (November 17, 1906 in Tilsit – December 28, 1966 in Hamburg) was a German actor. Martell was only 14 when he had his first performance in a silent movie, ''Das große Geheimnis'' (1920). In subsequent years, he was often seen as a supporting actor. In the 1930s, he reached main billing in romance and adventure films and acted as a partner of Zarah Leander in four movies. During World War II he participated in '' Alarm'', ''Ohm Krüger'', '' Back Then'' and ''Das alte Lied''. After the Second World War, in the 1950s, Martell tried to resume his movie career, but he was given mainly B-movie roles. He also produced documentaries.
