Hemchand Yadav
Hemchand Yadav (1 December 1958 - 11 April 2018) was an Indian politician and a member of Bharatiya Janata Party. He was cabinet minister in Government of Chhattisgarh from 2003 to 2013. Early life Yadav was born to small farmer Ramlal Yadav in Durg. He married Leela Yadav on 9 March 1976 and they have four children, two sons and two daughter. In 1987, he became active in politics. Political career Yadav was first elected to Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1998 from Durg Constituency by defeating his congress rival Arun Vora by a margin of 3,279. After creation of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, he contested 2003 assembly election and won by a huge of 22,573 and became Cabinet minister water resources, sports and youth welfare in Raman Singh's Cabinet. Durg
Durg is a city in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, east of the Shivnath River and is part of the Durg- Bhilai urban agglomeration. With an urban population of 1,064,077, Durg- Bhilai is the second largest urban area in Chhattisgarh after Raipur. It is the headquarters of Durg District. History The town was founded about the tenth century by a person named Jagpal, who originally came from Badhal Desh in Mirzapur, and became treasury officer of the Kalachuri king of Chhattisgarh. He was rewarded the land grant of Durg with 700 villages for his excellent services and later helped the Kalachuri king greatly in his conquests. The original name of the town was "Shiva Durg", literally meaning fort on the Shivnath River. Durg used to have a fort that was the headquarters of one of the 18 ''Garhs'' or districts under the administration of the medieval Kalachuri kings. 2018 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Election
The 2018 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly election was held to elect members to the Legislative Assembly of the Indian State of Chhattisgarh. The election was held in two phases for a total of 90 seats; the first for 18 seats in South Chhattisgarh on 12 November 2018, and the second for the remaining 72 on 20 November. The INC got a landslide victory winning 68 seats against the ruling BJP's 15 seats, and consequently formed the government after 15 years as opposition party. Incumbent Chief Minister Raman Singh resigned on 11 December, the day of counting and declaration of result, taking the responsibility for the defeat in the elections. Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly election 2013 was held in two phases on 11 and 19 November in Chhattisgarh state of India. The result was announced on 8 December. Legislative Assembly elections were held in Chhattisgarh in two phases on 2023 elections in India, 7 November and 17 November 2023 to elect all List of constituencies of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, 90 members of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly.
