Donau City
Donau City, or Vienna DC, is a new part of Vienna's 22nd Districts of Vienna, District Donaustadt, next to both the Reichsbrücke and the left bank of the Danube's 21.1 km new channel, ''Neue Donau''. Construction work for the first building on this site, the Andromeda Tower, started in 1996. History Although the Danube river has been inextricably connected with Vienna, for centuries, it had played only a subordinate role in the city of Vienna. Unlike in many other cities, the Danube river, because of the numerous floods it regularly caused, was omitted from the urban area. Hochhaus Neue Donau
Hochhaus Neue Donau also known as the Seidler Tower is a mixed-use high-rise building in the Donau City district of Vienna, Austria. Built between 1999 and 2001, the tower stands at tall ( by antenna spire) with 34 floors and is the current 11th tallest building in Austria. History Architecture The elongated triangular design of the 32-story tower is inspired by the goal of maximizing beautiful water views for every apartment. The longer wing is oriented southward toward the Danube, while the shorter wing points east, towards the Kaiserwasser and the Alte Donau. Dominique Perrault
Dominique Perrault (born 9 April 1953 in Clermont-Ferrand) is a French architect and urban planner. He became world known for the design of the French National Library, distinguished with the Silver medal for town planning in 1992 and the Mies van der Rohe Prize in 1996. In 2010 he was awarded the gold medal by the French Academy of Architecture for all his work. He was named as the 2015 Praemium Imperiale Laureate for Architecture. He received his Diploma in Architecture at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1978. UNO-City
The Vienna International Centre (VIC) is the campus and building complex hosting the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV; in ). It is colloquially also known as UNO City. Overview The VIC, designed by Austrian architect Johann Staber, was built between 1973 and 1979 just north of the river Danube. The initial idea of setting up an international organization in Vienna came from the Chancellor of Austria Dr. Bruno Kreisky. Tech Gate Vienna is a science and technology park in the City of Vienna, Austria, situated in the 22nd district Donaustadt. It was built between 1999 and 2005 following the plans from architects Wilhelm Holzbauer and Sepp Frank in an area called Donau City. Tech Gate Vienna consists of two buildings.
