MS World Discoverer
MS ''World Discoverer'' was a cruise ship designed for and built by Schichau Unterweser, Germany in 1974. During construction called ''BEWA Discoverer'', the ship was completed in Bremerhaven, Germany. In 2000, the ship struck an underwater obstacle and was damaged; it was subsequently grounded – to prevent sinking – and abandoned in the Solomon Islands. To this date the local community has requested assistance from an environmental protection agency to assist with the clean up, and it has been refused. Further they tried to get the ship removed, or get compensated for it, but have received nothing to date. They were advised that they were time barred in their claim. History The vessel was originally built as the BEWA ''Discoverer'' in 1974. The ship was sold to Denmark’s BEWA Cruises. The ship was renamed "Lowell Thomas Discoverer" and ran 7-day Great Lakes Chicago to Montreal (and the reverse) St. Lawrence Seaway cruises. In July 1976, the vessel was sold to Ad ...

Oracle Discoverer
Oracle Fusion Middleware (FMW, also known as Fusion Middleware) consists of several software products from Oracle Corporation. FMW spans multiple services, including Java EE and developer tools, integration services, business intelligence, collaboration, and content management. FMW depends on open standards such as BPEL, SOAP, XML and JMS. Oracle Fusion Middleware provides software for the development, deployment, and management of service-oriented architecture (SOA). It includes what Oracle calls "hot-pluggable" architecture, designed to facilitate integration with existing applications and systems from other software vendors such as IBM, Microsoft, and SAP AG. Evolution Many of the products included under the FMW banner do not themselves qualify as middleware products: "Fusion Middleware" essentially represents a re-branding of many of Oracle products outside of Oracle's core database and applications-software offerings—compare Oracle Fusion. Oracle acquired many of i ...

NOAAS Discoverer (R 102)
NOAAS ''Discoverer'' (R 102), originally USC&GS ''Discoverer'' (OSS 02), was an American ''Oceanographer''-class oceanographic research vessel in service in the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey from 1966 to 1970 and in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) from 1970 to 1996. She was the second Coast and Geodetic Survey ship and first NOAA ship to bear the name ''Discoverer''. Construction ''Discoverer'' was laid down on 10 September 1963 by Aerojet General Shipyards at Jacksonville, Florida. A very serious fire in the area of her meat preparation room and freezers brought her construction to a stop, but it resumed and she was launched on 29 October 1964. Soon after launching, she was moved to the Maryland Shipbuilding and Drydock Company at Baltimore, Maryland, where she received a single computer system, the first system of its kind, which revolutionizing environmental data collection and processing; via the computer, ''Discoverer''s propulsion an ...

Collapse Into Now
''Collapse into Now'' is the fifteenth and final studio album by American alternative rock band R.E.M., released on March 7, 2011, on Warner Bros. Produced by Jacknife Lee, who previously worked with the band on '' Accelerate'' (2008), the album was preceded by the singles "It Happened Today", "Mine Smell Like Honey", " Überlin" and " Oh My Heart". Regarding the album's title, lead singer Michael Stipe noted, "It's the final thing I sing, the last song on the record before the record goes into a coda and reprises the first song. In my head, it's like I'm addressing a nine-year-old and I'm saying, 'I come from a faraway place called the 20th century. And these are the values and these are the mistakes we've made and these are the triumphs. These are the things that we held in the highest esteem. These are the things to learn from."

The Discoverers
''The Discoverers'' is a non-fiction historical work by Daniel Boorstin, published in 1983, and is the first in the Knowledge Trilogy, which also includes '' The Creators'' and ''The Seekers''. The book, subtitled ''A History of Man's Search to Know His World and Himself'', is a history of human discovery. Discovery in many forms is described: exploration, science, medicine, mathematics, and more-theoretical ones, such as time, evolution, plate tectonics, and relativity. Boorstin praises the inventive, human mind and its eternal quest to discover the universe and humanity's place in it. In "A Personal Note to the Reader", Boorstin writes "My hero is Man, the Discoverer. The world we now view from the literate West ... had to be opened by countless Columbuses. In the deep recesses of the past, they remain anonymous." The structure of the book is topical and chronological, beginning in the prehistoric era in Babylon and Egypt. Themes ''The Discoverers'' (as well as ''The Creato ...
