The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is a Taiwanese nationalism, Taiwanese nationalist and Centre-left politics, centre-left political party in the Taiwan, Republic of China (Taiwan). Controlling both the President of the Republic of China, Republic of China presidency and the unicameral Legislative Yuan, it is the majority ruling party and the dominant party in the Pan-Green Coalition as of 2022. The Democratic Progressive Party ( zh, t=民主進步黨) was a small localist political party in Hong Kong established by Yeung Ke-cheong ( zh, t=楊繼昌, labels=no) in 2015. It considered Chinese rule in Hong Kong foreign and promoted the right of Hong Kongers to self-determination. The party advocated non-violent struggle against what it saw as Chinese colonial rule, in sharp contrast to the more strident localists of Civic Passion and Hong Kong Indigenous. Yeung, the party's chairman, also hosted an online programme critical of other localists, especially Yeung's former mentor Wong Yuk-man, for their militant and populist tendencies. The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is a political party in Malawi. The party was formed in February 2005 by Malawian President Bingu wa Mutharika after a dispute with the United Democratic Front (UDF), which was led by his predecessor, Bakili Muluzi. History The DPP party is an offshoot of the United Democratic Front. The UDF was formed by Bingu wa Mutharika and Bakili Muluzi and came to power in 1994 under Muluzi. After Muluzi's two terms were over, Mutharika succeeded him as head of the party and nation. However, Muluzi remained involved in running the party; therefore Mutharika formed his own party, the Democratic Progressive Party, in early 2005. Many UDF members defected to the new DPP party. The Sammarinese Democratic Progressive Party (''Partito Progressista Democratico Sammarinese'', PPDS) was a democratic socialist political party in San Marino.
