David Burns (radio Presenter)
David Burns (or Burnsy) (born 26 April 1959 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a British radio presenter working for the BBC. He is best known for his sports commentary, analysis and discussion on BBC Radio Humberside. Biography Up until June 2023, he was the presenter of the mid-morning programme at BBC Radio Humberside. He also commentated on Hull City games, where he is affectionately known as Burnsy. His co-presenters on air were Gwilym Lloyd, Matt Dean and Mike White. BBC Radio Humberside
BBC Radio Humberside is the BBC's local radio station serving East Yorkshire and North & North East Lincolnshire. It broadcasts on FM, DAB, digital TV and via BBC Sounds from studios at Queen's Gardens in Hull. According to RAJAR, the station has a weekly audience of 136,000 listeners and a 5.8% share as of September 2022. History BBC Radio Humberside began broadcasting in 1971 from studios above a post office on Chapel Street in Hull, three years before the county of Humberside was created. It has retained its name despite Humberside being abolished as a county in 1996. On the first night of broadcasting, many West Yorkshire rugby league fans were disappointed when the relatively powerful High Hunsley transmitter signal was broadcast instead of Radio Leeds, so they heard a commentary of Hull KR v Widnes. Scunthorpe United
Scunthorpe United Football Club is a professional association football club based in the town of Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, England. The side currently competes in the National League, the fifth tier of the English football league system. The team is nicknamed "The Iron", and has played in a home strip of claret and blue for most of the club's history. They play their home games at Glanford Park, having moved from their original stadium, the Old Show Ground, in 1988. Grimsby Town Football Club is a professional football club based in Cleethorpes, North East Lincolnshire, England, that in the 2022–23 season will compete in , the fourth tier of the English football league system, following the victory in the 2022 National League play-off Final. Peter Swan (footballer Born 1966)
Peter Harold Swan (born 28 September 1966) is an English former footballer who played as a defender and centre forward. In a sixteen-year professional career in the English Football League he scored 62 goals in 445 games. He began his career with local side Leeds United in 1984, before he moved on to Hull City for £200,000 in 1989. Two years later he transferred to Port Vale for a fee of £300,000. He spent three years with Vale, before he was sold on to Plymouth Argyle for the same price. During his time at Vale Park he was selected in the PFA's Second Division team of the season in 1992–93, before he won promotion out of the division in 1993–94; he also won the TNT Tournament in 1992 and the Football League Trophy in 1993 with the club. However at Plymouth he failed to find success, and was instead transferred to Burnley for £200,000 after just twelve months. George Kerr (footballer)
George Adams McDonald Kerr (born 9 January 1943 in Alexandria) is a Scottish former association football player and manager. As a player, he scored 79 goals from 379 appearances in the Football League playing for Barnsley, Bury, Oxford United and Scunthorpe United. As a manager, he took charge of Lincoln City twice, Grimsby Town, Rotherham United and Boston United. Playing career After being spotted playing for the Renton Select junior side in Scotland, Kerr joined Barnsley aged just 17. Following brief spells at Bury and Oxford United, Kerr found his home at Scunthorpe United under the guidance of manager Ron Ashman. His then-teammate Kevin Keegan later remembered how "George was a tough, experienced Scot who knew how to handle himself."
