Dancing With The Stars (New Zealand Series 1)
The first series of ''Dancing with the Stars'' premiered on 1 May 2005. The viewership hit around 730,000 and almost a million tuned into the final episode. It was won by Norm Hewitt and his partner Carol-Ann Hickmore, with 62.42% of the public vote. Shane Cortese placed second with 37.58%. In the semi-finals it was even closer with Norm Hewitt winning 42.81% and Shane winning 36.71% of the public vote. According to a TVNZ spokeswoman, 317,698 votes were cast for the final, of which 83,000 were 0900 calls, and the rest text messages. The series earned charities a combined total of more than $444,000, according to TVNZ. TV One (New Zealand)
TVNZ 1 () is the first national television channel owned and operated by the state-owned broadcaster Television New Zealand (TVNZ). It is the oldest television broadcaster in New Zealand, starting out from 1960 as independent channels in the four main centres of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin, networking in 1969 to become NZBC TV (although the individual facilities retained their call signs into the 1970s). David Ewen Gilmour (22 January 1963 – 3 October 2014), commonly known as Ewen Gilmour, was a New Zealand comedian and television presenter. Georgina Beyer
Georgina Beyer (November 1957 – 6 March 2023) was a New Zealand Labour Party politician who represented Wairarapa in the Parliament of New Zealand from 1999 to 2005, after serving as mayor of Carterton from 1995 to 1999. Bernice Papasina Mene (born 18 January 1975) is a former New Zealand netball international. Between 1992 and 2001, Mene made 76 senior appearances for New Zealand. She represented New Zealand at the 1993 World Games, the 1998 Commonwealth Games and the 1995 and 1999 World Netball Championships. She captained New Zealand during 2000 and 2001 seasons. Sir Timothy Richard Shadbolt (born 19 February 1947) is a New Zealand politician. He was the Mayor of Invercargill from 1998 to 2022, and previously Mayor of Waitemata City. Norman Jason Hewitt (11 November 1968 – 16 July 2024) was a New Zealand rugby union player who played as a Hooker (rugby union), hooker. He won nine caps for the New Zealand national rugby union team, New Zealand national team, the All Blacks. Shane Cortese (born 13 August 1968) is a New Zealand actor and singer. He is perhaps best known for his role of Mac on Nothing Trivial, Loki on the Almighty Johnsons and Hayden Peters on the hit show '' Outrageous Fortune''.
