Cross-country Skiing At The 2014 Winter Olympics – Men's Team Sprint
The men's team sprint cross-country skiing competition in the classical technique at the 2014 Sochi Olympics took place on 19 February at Laura Biathlon & Ski Complex. The race was won by Finland's Iivo Niskanen and Sami Jauhojärvi, followed by Russia's Maxim Vylegzhanin and Nikita Kriukov second (+0.97 seconds) and Sweden's Emil Jönsson and Teodor Peterson third (+15.12 seconds). Teamed up with Hannes Dotzler, Germany's anchor Tim Tscharnke clashed with Jauhojärvi's skis in the last leg, as Jauhojärvi changed his line. The results were protested by Germany, but the protest was rejected and the results were confirmed. Yelena Välbe, president of the Russian Ski Federation, told reporters: "Finland should be disqualified but the protest has already been rejected". Laura Biathlon & Ski Complex
The Laura Biathlon & Ski Complex (russian: Лыжно-биатлонный комплекс «Лаура») is a skiing venue located on the crests and slopes of Psekhako Ridge in Krasnaya Polyana, Sochi, Krasnodar Krai, Krasnaya Polyana, Russia. For the 2014 Winter Olympics and 2014 Winter Paralympics, Paralympics in neighboring Sochi, it hosted the biathlon and the cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skiing portion of the Nordic combined events. Germany At The 2014 Winter Olympics
Germany competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, from 7 to 23 February 2014. The first round of nominations was on 18 December, the second round on 23 January. Germany sent 153 athletes (76 men, 77 women). Head of Mission, ''Chef de Mission'' was Michael Vesper. The outfitting was held in January at the Erding Air Base. During the Games, Germany had a ''German House'', that was located in the village of Estosadok, on the Mzymta River, upstream from Krasnaya Polyana, Sochi, Krasnodar Krai, Krasnaya Polyana (Mountain Cluster). Alex Harvey (skier)
Alex Harvey (; born 7 September 1988) is a retired Canadian cross-country skier who competed between 2005 and 2019. Harvey is also a member of the Quebec Provincial Cycling Team. Career In 2008 Harvey finished third both in the (Team sprint: Whistler Olympic Park, and the 50 km: Trondheim). He also competed at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec, finishing fifth in the 4 x 10 km, 22nd in the 15 km + 15 km double pursuit, 28th in the individual sprint, and 36th in the 15 km events. In the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, Harvey finished fourth in the team sprint with teammate Devon Kershaw. This is the best placing ever for Canadian men in an Olympic cross-country competition. Federico Pellegrino (born 1 September 1990) is an Italian cross-country skier. Pellegrino is a world champion and Olympic silver medalist in cross-country skiing. In the 2015/2016 season, he won the sprint cup. Pellegrino is an athlete of the G.S. Fiamme Oro. Biography Originally from Nus, Pellegrino made his World Cup debut in the 2009–10 season. Petter Northug Jr. (born 6 January 1986) is a Norwegian former cross-country skier and double Olympic champion. Ola Vigen Hattestad (born 19 April 1982) is a former Norwegian cross-country skier who competed from 2002 through 2018. Competing in three Winter Olympics, he became Olympic champion in the individual sprint event at Sochi in 2014. Career Hattestad has 13 individual World Cup victories, all in the sprint events. Gianluca Cologna (born 17 May 1990) is a retired Swiss cross-country skier. His brother Dario Cologna is also a professional cross-country skier. He has four overall World Cup victories, four Olympic gold medals, one World Championships gold medal and four Tour de Ski victories in his career.
